There you go. This is an issue that was resolved in 1996. It's irrelevant to evaluating the merit of a set that costs 90 bucks in 2012 and comparing it to the effort put forth on other current products. Star wars is not special. We pay for it with the same money as other movies.

Let's state the facts here. George is a billionaire. It doesn't matter what we think or how much we complain. He's won, regardless of the finer moral points of it all.

Lol, I don't see why this debate even has anything to do with any sort of moral points. It's not some conspiracy by Lucas to deprive everyone of their childhood just because he's an evil mastermind. Whether you like the changes or not, all Lucas did was try to make the movies better, as he saw it. It's really simple. I get that some people absolutely LOATHE the changes, and that's ok, that's your opinion, but to attack Lucas in a personal way is just silly.

I am going to have to disagree with this post. I wouldn't put it past Lucas at this point to realize how much people hated and thought the "NOOOOOOOOOOOO" in Revenge Of The Sith was stupid and then decided to add it to Return Of The Jedi.

I am no conspiracy theorist and don't think Lucas ruined the OT, raped my childhood or anything like that, but I agree with what you said. I think Lucas has been fed up with the purists for a long time and when they complained about the ROTS "NOOOO" in fin item I'm sure he rolled his eyes and it was probably the main reason he threw it in at the end of ROTJ. I think Lucas has gotten a little vengeful and is now using the films to get back at fans with things like that. The fans are vengeful too of course. I mean, to act like the new ewok blinks are the end of the world is over-dramatic too. It is hardly noticeable and very natural looking.

Have to agree. It's almost like Lucas has decided to get into a slap fight with those who have been vocal with their displeasure about the direction Star Wars has taken. He has brought up the fan/internet backlash on more than one occasion in interviews. This is going to sound crazy..but Lucas and Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins) are very similiar in how they view their fanbase. They seem very quick to focus on the negative and damn near seem to enjoy it.

Lucas says repeatedly that the PT are the movies he wanted to make and he had legit reasons for the OT changes. To me that should be good enough. There are a TON of people that enjoy the PT and don't get bent out of shape over OT alterations. I wonder sometimes if Lucas himself even realizes that...

Do you have any evidence to back this up?

Why would he need evidence to support something that he clearly did not state as fact?

I'm just wondering what would make him think that. Is there any evidence that Lucas is purposefully changing the movies to aggravate people? As far as I know there isn't.

I look at it this way, Either GL is doing it on purpose or he has no clue as to what the movie fans want. Either way its sad. I will say this I would be more than willing to pay a easy 150.00 for the UOT with a 4K remaster, thats how much I love those films.

Fans have been begging for the originals since 1997 (the 2004 DVDs don't count since they were recycled 1995 Laserdisc transfers, nothing new) and we still don't have them

What further evidence could possibly be required to prove that Lucas hates us?

I really don't get all the Lucas hatetred. The man gave all of us SW fans great memories. If u don't like the changes watch ur VHS tapes or laser discs and STOP complaining. I honestly believe, he believes, he made them better and more cohesive as a whole saga. I for one would like to say THANK YOU MR. LUCAS for the old & the equally as important new memories & ur saga straight up FREAKING ROCKS !!!

George doesn't need to pander to everyones needs! He's simply shaping them into the artistic vision that best fits what he wants seen going forward. Whether someone agrees with his decisions for doing so because its not what they wanted is irrelevant. I'm not saying it wouldn't be nice to have the originals restored for Blu, but I'm not losing any sleep over it either.

You are perfectly right...but would probably be in the other boat had Lucas made a change that really bothered you. But it's true, no would should loose sleep over any movie.

Now if all the Star Wars films had been shot this way I wouldn't have had a problem, but I do have a problem with it when you're five films into the series and you decide to change the look of your films by chosing a new image capture medium. But Clones is just dreadful looking though. Even the FX look preaty bad, especially now in the year 2012. To me most of the shoddy FX in that film is way more unbearable than any of the shoddy FX from the OT.
I find Obiwans beard the most frustrating aspect of episode 2.

Be nice

Really? it took him only 30 years to realize he needed make the films "better"...?

And he can't be bothered to invest a little more in the blu ray set?
