When or if we do get these, shouldn't that be all that matters? I have no sentimental attachment to the corporate logos that precede the feature presentation; as long as I have the unaltered trilogy, that's all I care about at day's end.

update

UPDATE – 3 PM: Here are new and updated details on this deal from the official Disney investors’ conference call this afternoon:

Deal signed and announced earlier today – includes Star Wars franchise and all Lucasfilm operating businesses.
Indiana Jones franchise rights ARE also included in this deal.
First project under the joint under Disney/Lucas partnership will be Star Wars: Episode 7 in 2015, followed by Episode 8 and Episode 9.
Disney purchased “extensive and detailed” treatment for at least Episode 7 (and possibly Episodes 8 and 9 as well) as part of this deal which they “feel very good about.”
Disney long term plan is to release a new live-action Star Wars film every 2-3 years – films may eventually explore entire 20,000 year time-span of the franchise.
Lucas will serve as creative consultant on new Star Wars films. Kathleen Kennedy will executive produce.
Kennedy will serve as Lucasfilm president, reporting to Bob Iger at Disney.
Disney plans to expand Star Wars brand into many new product categories and internationally.
Star Wars brand will also be expanded into Disney parks, games and TV businesses.
Deal was 50% cash and 50% stock – $4.05 billion
Disney believes Lucasfilm value is comparable to value of Marvel, but valuation is only based on Star Wars alone – other Lucasfilm intellectual properties are in addition to this.

Stay tuned…

This is Disney the Queen of cash wh0re companies we're talking about. Of course we are going to see everything Star Wars released. I'm sure we'll see Star Wars stores and a kiddie Star Wars show with future pop stars singing the Holiday Special songs every morning.

If I get the unaltered trilogy, I'll be happy. But I'll always hate Disney.

Why wouldn't there be a LucasFilm Logo?

That would be like not having the Marvel Logo in front of their new movies.

Disney bought LucasFilm, but they're still keeping the infrastructure... They're just the Parent Company now.

Why would you think there won't be a Lucasfilm logo? The company isn't going anywhere, it's just part of Disney's enterprise now.

If Disney said we are going to give fans the unaltered trilogy instead of EP 7 then it would have been the best day ever

If they offer the original versions, I don't care if they remove the old logos and show Mickey Mouse giggling for 5 seconds instead...

Once again, rights to the original films are staying with Fox, so no there won't be any Disney logos added.

Is this even possible at this point? Is there a product out there that doesn't bear the "Star Wars" name?

From the little sarcastic man in the back of my head:
"Yeah, now somebody can finally start marketing this whole Star Wars thing."

"John Carter" was hardly a favourable augury for the future of the SW franchise, was it?
Speaking of Pixar alum, I'd trust Brad Bird to helm a sequel.

WOW! excellent suggestion... I was thinking about who would be perfect, but nobody came to my mind. Brad Bird would be perfectly right!

Or the Paramount logos that are still part of the films owned by Universal.

They could conceivably tinker with the logos but I agree that seems unlikely.

Or at least less likely than just leaving them alone.

honestly, cool pic. don't be surprised if they announce the original versions of the original trilogy were going to be released. if there is money to be made, Disney will do it and you know they would make a mint releasing them back into the theatres again. i imagine there has to be a print of the original versions somewhere and really, they only need to remaster part of the movie since the "new" versions already use a bunch of footage. Lucas may not have felt it was worth the money but i doubt Disney will pass it up. guess it is a good thing Family Guy did their Star Wars episodes when they did. those days are over now.

oh, and just remember, it won't be an accurate Episode 7-9 either. Lucas mashed a bunch of things together into Jedi to end the movies so the original concept will never be seen.

Since this is Disney, and they did do Tron with a younger looking Jeff Bridges playing Clu, what are the odds of them picking up 5 years after Jedi and having digital faces of Luke, Han and the rest on different actors? would make things a lot easier.
