He also didn't direct Empire but he was on set and Kershner worked with him.

Lucas has a screenplay credit on Jedi. As was pointed out earlier, he did a lot of second unit work which morphed into first unit when VFX were involved.

Has anybody watched the latest South Park episode? Disney buying Star Wars was the main plot of the episode.

The order. And originally, it was entitled "Revenge of the Jedi" but Lucas was convinced to change it because "the Jedi aren't interested in revenge".

It's a bit of everything for me. Luke is the physical manifestation of the New Jedi Order, so him and the order 'returning' are pretty much the same thing, but I also like to think that it refers to Anakin too, returning to the light side after decades of darkness.

Its not hate! You can see with your own eyes that GL had people that worked with him and override him in the OT and you had nothing but yes sirs in the PT! I for one am so happy that Disney bought star wars, that means there will be no yes men for 7,8,9 and we might get some good movies.

Who overrode him on the OT?

Kurtz? Lucas put on screen exactly what he wanted (VFX flaws aside), and on Empire & Jedi he had complete control since he financed the films out of pocket. On Indiana Jones, for story & plot points even Spielberg deferred to Lucas. Numerous times Spielberg has said he worked for Lucas.

The eagerness to deny that Lucas could do anything good is descending into parody.

Blind loyalty on your part! Irvin Kershner overridden what GL wanted to many times and well documented, ANH had to be re edited many times by other people becasue GL screwed it up many times, LOL Spielberg worked for Lucas! its simple math, the OT was better movies because GL had help, the PT Lucas didn't want help and just wanted yes men and the PT's where horrible besides ROTS which was Avg at best.

Maybe you should watch these! It might open your eyes.

BTW when GL let Kurtz go it went all down hill after that.

OK. Name some.

Name how he screwed up. Especially since Lucas did NOT do the initial edit as he was working in post production when that edit was made.

Been there, done that. Is that all you have? Someone else's opinions to base yours on?

Redlettermedia Star Wars reviews are absolutely terrible if you really pay attention! The guy flat out lies and is untruthfull on numerous occasions. Maybe he just didn't get it. *shrugs* In any case, Lucas had a ton of input into the OT beyond A New Hope, including editing many of the scenes you hold dear. Give the guy some credit where credit is due.

As I said before: name the other screwups/overrides. Should be easy to find since they're "well documented". A 2010 interview with butthurt Kurtz isn't going to cut it.

Of course he gets some credit for the OT but he also listened to people then, The PT you can see that he didn't listen to anyone.

Also I love redlettermedia reviews of the PT I feel he is spot on.

Why is he disgruntled? How do you know that? Please show documentation that he's disgruntled. Otherwise its you way to protect GL from the truth

Gee, you can't see that from reading the interviews themselves? The fact he thinks it's all about the toys speaks volumes...and just how many toys did the Indiana Jones series have anyway? I don't remember seeing the toy section of any store stocked and ready when Red Tails hit theaters.

PS: How much success has Kurtz had outside Star Wars since he's this brilliant filmmaker you seem fixated on?

Ford lobbied Kersh and Lucas kept it. If Lucas didn't want it then it would not have been in the film, period. Obviously Lucas liked it enough to go so far as to parody/reverse the roles in Jedi at the shield bunker entrance.

The same question can be asked about GL?

I didn't see Kurtz in the interview as someone being Disgruntle but truthful. Speaking of toys hmmm how many toys did the PT make? Truth hurts?

You guys are talking like you were there during the productions. Unbelievable, some articles and opinions/reviews on the internet are now considered facts. One simple fact is that it was Lucas who disliked the first cut by the original editor, he was fired and Lucas made his own workprint and passed it to the new editors to work from there. Lucas is a master editor, he edited many movies uncredited, including the Indiana Jones series.

The "I love you" - "I know" is the only thing Lucas let Kershner/Ford change something as far as I know of.

Please don't rewrite history. Read the official books, not some outsider's opinion on the internet, thanks.
