Watched The Empire Strikes Back Saturday afternoon and was blown away by the lossless audio.

Watched the bonus discs I and II again, and I LOVE the fact, that you can choose to play all, but also select all interviews, or all deleted/extended scenes, etc.! That's so neat! It really gives you the flexibility you need to just watch the stuff you want to, and there is no need to go through the slow menus from planet to planet to pick out what you like.

FANTASTIC! I really love it, and the extras are terrific.

I got interested in the Ralph McQuarrie sketches and illustrations, and there was plenty of beautiful material.

Also the extras are in very good quality.

I can't understand anyone, who would buy the individual set(s) only.

Very well done!!!

All I know, is, I'm refusing to buy the movies as they currently are...
I'm with you, I'll take better transfers over 20 hours of Lucas PR puff pieces, and spinning severed Luke heads and close ups of Ewok hands.

I too thought of getting them, and I might someday, but it's pure luxury.

They sure look nice, and I kind understand getting them, or even just the regular sets.

I think, I will buy another copy of the Complete Saga first though, to have one pristine copy, and who knows what comes next.

The Complete Saga is the whole shebang, and it's glorious, minus the half DNR'd transfer of TPM, of course.

There's loads of stuff not included in the Saga set. Pretty much any special feature from previous releases are missing.

Would be nice. Best case would be theatrical and old behind the scene features. Can't cost too much to digitize the old stuff, especially if they get the transfers Lucasfilm did for the first Blu set.

I'm sure it's not a cost issue. They can do it cheap if they wanted to, it just seems like they don't care. Or they think they know what their fans want... Or they want to banish anything old... Like the 'From Star Wars To Jedi' documentary. I would have loved to have that on the Blu-ray. But my digitized copy of my VHS/LaserDisc version will have to do for now I suppose.

Sad thing is Disney isn't the best with special features either. Hardly any of their animated titles have their old DVD (or LaserDisc) bonus features ported over. In a digital world it makes no sense for a digital video file to be 'out of print' and unavailable to a customer who is willing to pay for it.

Yeah, but Disney also makes some of the best transfers of the industry...

Default crazy prices

My price tracker came into play today and I was able to snag the original trilogy for $33, down from 39. Of course, it's now back up to $39! LOL

I guess these are among the last 'big franchise' movies I still don't own on blu. That's partially because of the numerous other editions I already have, including LDs of the 'original trilogy'. Hoping that those will somehow see the light of day in hi-def, even though the PCM sound on those is quite good from the LDs. PQ, however, is another story.

The OCD in me is going to erupt when the new Star Wars movies start coming out and I have the "complete saga" next to Episode VII lol.

Blurry Han shooting first will always be better than HD Han ducking out of the way.

I solved this problem by putting the individual movies in cases and having custom art done

I'm tempted to get the steelbooks now that there's going to be a 3rd trilogy. I think if they come out with one for episodes 7-9, the three steels will look great next to each other. Are they extremely limited?

You have to wait about 7 years to have the third trilogy set on blu-ray.

I'm tempted to, and get rid of the big box full of bonus DVDs that I've never even cracked out of the case.

But ... spending even more money on transfers that I'm hoping will get replaced by better transfers sooner or later?

It's a dilemma.

My price tracker is currently set to $70 on this bad boy. I know it hit that amount around Christmas time, but does anyone think that's a little aggressive?
