If you are going to watch all of them, then this IS best way to view them -

Episode I - The Phantom Menace

Episode II - Attack of the Clones

Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (Immediately turn it off just before Obi-wan picks up Anikin's lightsaber. That way you can keep the surprise, and the rest of it was just mostly fan-wank anyway)

Episode IV - A New Hope

Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back

Episode VI - Return of the Jedi

All other ordered versions involving all six movies are inferior.

meh. The actors a kid, and I'm guessing he wasn't given decent direction. Actually I'm guessing thats the problem with most of the actors since there are some fairly decent actors in the prequels. I still say overall its mostly Lucas's fault, and the fault of others on the project for not challenging any of the dumb ideas.

Well this is the way I like to watch them, 4,5,6 then 3. I pretend that 1-2 never happened and was just a bad dream. IMO thats the best way to watch them

Oh, I advocate 4, 5, 3, 6 as well...don't get me wrong. Lucas said only 20% of his backstory was used for Episode 1 and 2, and when he got to three, he realized he ran out of time and only fit in 60% of the rest (for those playing at home, that means 20% of what Lucas originally intended to shoot -- he didn't).

So, I've recently come to the conclusion you don't really need to watch Episode 1 or 2. Episode 3 pretty much fills in that gap, if you want another 20% of the saga, there's two films where you can find that. The missing 20% you have to invent in your head anyway (i.e. Anakin created by Palpatine, or his master).

I tried watching The Phantom Menace the other day, it was very hard to get past the very first scene where we see Jar Jar, lets just say I changed the movie after 15 minutes.

Liam Neesen was epic, Darth Maul was epic and should've been the Sith apprentice for the whole trilogy, Ewan mcGregor perfectly resembled a young Obi, Natalie Portman is beautiful and classy as always, the series could've been great if it wasn't for how Anakin was written, acted, and directed. jar-jar blew too.

Agreed! Maul could have been as epic as Vader. Dooku really didn't need to be a Sith; he could've been used by Palpatine to start the war like the Trade Federation. Anakin besting Maul in an epic lightsaber battle in Revenge of the Sith would have been awesome to see. And for that matter, Anakin really didn't need to be a child in Episode 1. He could just as easily have been Luke's age (and portrayed throughout the trilogy by someone other than Hayden)

Had audience feedback not been so negative Jar Jar would've played an even bigger role in eps.2-3. Maybe we would've had Jar Jar as a sith lord!

People overreact to Jar Jar 1,000,000 times more than necessary. Star Wars was created as a story the whole family can enjoy (with the exception of ep. III according to George). There are plenty of characters from the OT that were as silly or stupid as Jar Jar. Get over yourselves.

Jar Jar got what he deserved when he was practically kept out of episode III, he was easily the worst part of the PT to me.
