I'm pretty sure the DVDs will just be the the movies on DVD (the same versions on the Blurays), just like pretty much all Blu-ray/DVD combo packs.

It says "Blu-Ray + DVD" at the top of the new boxes.

I wouldn't be shocked if those pre-orders aren't the films defaced even more by Lucas as a last hurrah and f-you to the fans.

Maybe he will replace Hayden with Llyod at the end of Jedi. Yipee.

Does this mean the previous release of the original trilogy will become cheaper? Man I hope so.

Make about as much sense as replacing Shaw for Christensen.

What they should have done was have stubby burned Anakin (Shaw version) at the end of Jedi. It doesn't make any sense the way it was considering he had his arms and legs back and a full head of hair.

Or it could have been left alone, as it originally was and then it would have made sense. The most important thing about the end of jedi, was it was Luke's story. It was about him seeing his father, as he wanted to see him.

He should have had Obi-Wan and Yoda appear and then Anakin and he could have high fived Obi-Wan and then winked into the camera. And Yoda could have jumped and kicked his heels together in the air. Man, it is too bad Lucas is retired from Star Wars now.

So true.

When Luke sees the young Anakin ghost at the end of Jedi, he should squint out of confusion, as he doesn't recognize that person at all. And then Anakin repeats, "Tell your sister you were right. Go ahead, I'll wait." Luke laughs. Anakin does not. He's pouting now, obviously digressing back to his dark state of mind. And then in Episode VII, Hayden will return as Anakin's ghost haunting Luke. It could be like The Conjuring, only with Jedis and aliens and lasers. And at the end of the film, Luke finally tells Leia that he was right, and Anakin's ghost is at peace.

And then of course Episode VIII should involve Jar Jar Binks in a major way, like the story of him trying to reconnect with an even more annoying nephew.

And cap off the new trilogy in Episode IX with Greedo's son getting revenge on Han, but eventually learning that they shot at the same time, so they were both at fault. Greedo's son ultimately takes a job as a life insurance salesman and everyone lives even more happily ever after.

These stories kinda write themselves. Who needs Michael Arndt and Lawrence Kasdan?

And...scene. Let's try to restore some dignity to this series please. That starts with a proper release of the unaltered versions of the original trilogy. Dare to dream.

Haven't been in this thread in a while but I will say this, it's interesting to see so many people posting in here who's only interest is about how they no longer have any interest in the subject

Surprised nobody brought up these rereleases of the PT and OT which are set to release October 8th, a week before The Clone Wars season 5:

http://www.amazon.com/Star-Trilogy-E.../dp/B00E9PMML2

http://www.amazon.com/Star-Trilogy-E...dp/B00E9PMMX0/

Seems to be the same ol' release for each trilogy blu-ray-wise. However, it'll also contain DVDs of the movies. I assume the DVDs will have the blu-ray edits of the films. No extra features as far as I can see.

I'm guessing the reason for the rerelease is to get something fresh on the shelves for the holidays, and to present something more in line with The Clone Wars blu-rays:

I'm also guessing that since this is the first video release post-Disney purchase, Disney will get a bit of the profits.

According to Bleeding Cool, these releases will have new commentaries put together from archival interviews. It also is a 20th Century Fox thing, and Disney doesn't have anything to do with it.
