I still think it's wishful thinking that we will ever see the original unaltered trilogy getting a proper restoration. Of course I could be wrong but I'm still betting on no.

Anything that comes out between now and then, Disney will have to either suck it up and play ball with Fox, Disney acting purely as the content provider as LFL has always done, or buy out Fox's deal which will cost a lot of moolah.
Just like Disney acquired the rights to distribute the Marvel movies from Paramount, they will probably make a similar deal with Fox. It may take awhile before this happens, but it will happen. We must have patience and use the Force!

Thanks. I only rented it from the Library because I wanted to hear it.
I personally think that they botched the PQ/FX of all 6...

It's hard to argue against that.

Revenge of the Sith looks rather good; the rest are all questionable to some extent.

I don't believe the original trilogy is the disaster some have made them out to be and they are a worthwhile improvement over the DVDs, but they clearly lack well behind classics from that era with very good transfers (Jaws, Alien, Blade Runner, Indy, E.T., etc.) and that is disappointing.

The OT at least ANH is the MOST disappointing in the set for me.
Mostly due to the BAD FX....
Empire has some BAD FX Continuity....
Jedi has the "Noooo!" That inclusion ruined the suspense/tension of the scene...
I'm just glad they kept the "Noooo!" out of TESB when Luke falls...

Default Star Wars

I see that the "original" first 3 STAR WARS is slated re-release in October, ( I use the term "original very loosely since the originals are gone forever). Does this mean that George Lucas is not yet finished with ruining STAR WARS and taking a serious dump on loyal fans?
I wonder what (if any) changes he has in store this time. Perhaps the Jawas will have faces this time? Maybe Han doesn't shoot at all this time and Greedo shoots himself? How about a shot of Mickey Mouse inside the Cantina? Will Darth Vader say "NOOOOOOOOOO" in a more dignified way this time? Which ghost of Aniken will appear to Luke at the end of RETURN OF THE JEDI? Hayden Christensen, Jake LLoyd, or just about anyone else that Luke would not recognize? And finally, will George Lucas incorporate lens flare in every single shot as a tribute to the upcoming JJ Abrams Disney Lens flare extravaganza?
I suppose it doesn't really matter now. George Lucas did away with the original, and the only way to see them now is in crappy VHS.

It is very likely just a repackage of the discs from 2011 with DVD copies.

Yup, it's probably the same BD set with UV copies or something.

Google search "Harmy's De-specialized Editions". You're welcome. That's the only version I watch even though I own the Complete Saga blu-ray set.

Plus, there's always the laser disc versions that were released as bonus DVD's.

Why did you have to make a thread separate from the original Star Wars Blu-ray thread. And what is the point of asking this when you can just search the other thread?

This thread should probably be closed or merged since they are just the same crappy movies in shiny new packaging with some useless DVDs thrown in.

I don't think these at THX Certified? I don't see the logo on the spine.
