Ah so you were the one that hasn't seen Star Wars yet. The circle is now complete!
I'd be very interested to hear your thoughts! Enjoy...you are in for a great experience.

Nahhh, I already had the Faces set in pan and scan and widescreen from 1995 (which are the 1993 laserdisc transfers I think), and I do actually own the 2004 dvd box set, so I skipped it. I still have a few VHS players left that work, so I just watched my old tapes.

Oh okay, I was just curious. It would be nice if we could get a decent anamorphic transfer of the OT. Heck, I'd even settle for 480p. Wait, what did I just say?

Okay, silly question - what is the difference between that and the dvd version Lucas released? Aren't they from the same source - both from the THX version they did before the special editions? I am pretty sure I had a copy of the LD transfer but I probably chucked it when I got a copy of the dvd versions Lucas released.

The original unaltered trilogy has only been released once on DVD. It was released individually in the following SKUs on disc 2 in 2006. It is the LD transfer, which is of course windowboxed on your typical 16:9 display. They are still the best transfers of the original trilogy available on home video.

Episode IV: https://www.blu-ray.com/dvd/Star-War...ope-DVD/19310/
Episode V: https://www.blu-ray.com/dvd/Star-War...ack-DVD/19311/
Episode VI: https://www.blu-ray.com/dvd/Star-War...edi-DVD/19312/

Just finished A New Hope. Loved it.

The back and forth banter between C3PO and R2 was funny.

Vader = Badass

I wish I could walk around talking to people using James Earl Jones' voice.

It may be because I'm just seeing them for the first time, but most films today just don't give me the same joy as I get watching films like Indy or Star Wars. While I'm sure I would've loved them If I saw them when I was a kid, I think I appreciate them more now than I would have back then.

Going to get some food then I'll start The Empire Strikes Back

Awesome! Now you are in for a real treat, as Empire(Episode V) is widely considered the best of the series.

Uh-oh, hopefully I just didn't set off a chain reaction.

You will loose resolution but zooming in on the 4:3 letterbox image is better then the windowboxing on a 16:9 display IMO.

120 extra lines and the proper ratio are worse?

I just hope that when Disney bought Lucasfilm, George Lucas didn't have anything written in the contract stating that Disney can't restore and release the Original Theatrical Cuts on Blu-Ray.

Just finished Empire Strikes Back

The fight between Luke and Vader was awesome.

I feel a little wrong for laughing at the scene where Vader chokes out the General while giving the Commander orders

Poor little C3PO spent half of the film in pieces

Definitely think it's better than ANH

Going to watch it again soon just to see the scenes with Yoda and to see the fight at the end again.

ROTJ is up next.
