Your posts are usually as long as the bible, and I really have better things to do with my time. Sorry.

Well, I understand that, but many behave like it's the end of the world as we know it. Maybe you guys should complain where it might actually help, not here, where we want to discuss the BD release.

It's been 2 years what else is there to discuss really? There is nothing left to discuss about the current BD's other than these two items.

1. Why no pre tinkering release
2. Why were they cheap on the current release and not even remastered.

That's all that is left to discuss and I believe our conversation is covering the first one. What I don't understand is why some feel the need to come on here and defend Lucas not releasing the pre tinkering's. You got what you wanted (or so you say) so why hang? But this is a passionate topic that can be discussed /debated without personal insults or name calling in a civil manner. People that love the UOT fist and foremost are not going to change their mind in these discussions, so why even try. I will say that there is no way that anyone not from the generation that watched them "when" they were released can ever feel the same way (please note I said same; I do not mean not as much) about them nor understand why they were so important to us.

Interesting interview in the latest edition of empire magazine in the uk with George Lucas. The readers voted empire strikes back the number one film of all time, but a post retirement lucas was asked to comment on the Han shoots first controversy. His reply, if he had known how many issues it was going to cause, he would never have touched it!

Also, there are more changes and more man hours spent on revising empire than any of the original trilogy films. Matte lines apparently.

I want to apologize if my hatred of the Prequels and Special Editions of the Original Trilogy have caused any members in here to have their blu-ray sets ruined and made them have to throw them in the trash.

To circle the earth, 2.34 x 10^8 cases.
To reach the moon, 2.24 x 10^9 cases.

I doubt random guy's opinion on the internet would cause someone to trash something they paid money for.

I haven't been able to eat or sleep since reading it. Life has lost all meaning. Food has lost its flavor. Water no longer feels wet. The birds no longer sing, I cannot hear the laughter of the children. All that was good in the universe now submerges into the gloom.

It's the early version of DNR they used. Computer processing in 1993 wasn't quite fast enough to handle the quick motion of some shots.

Your posts are usually as long as the bible, and I really have better things to do with my time. Sorry.
You ask "how so?" and the very previous post of mine that I was referring to explains exactly that.

I'm sorry if you don't like long posts. Sometimes to effectively get the point across, it takes more than a couple of short sentences and a bunch of emoticons. If I summarized it in a couple of sentences, something would be lost in the translation, and you would comment on how I didn't make a strong enough case for my argument. Damned if I do, damned if I don't when it comes to someone like yourself, with all due respect.

Perhaps you just shouldn't bother replying if you aren't going to bother reading what was stated.

Wow I dunno if I have ever seen such hateful passion for anything than I see for the prequels and Lucas' tinkering with the original trilogy.

I guess I'm in the minority. I love it all. I love the trilogies because those where the new Star Wars that I grew up with and I thought it was cool before my young mind ever understood what I do about film now or understand the legacy of Star Wars. I just thought it was awesome to see new Star Wars movies and very cool to see how they would be done with modern technology. Those feelings I held onto more than anything else.

I love the original trilogy - ANY version of it. I also grew up with those, but they were established and I never really viewed them as my own. They were classics and I loved everything about them. I loved seeing the added stuff to them. I do not think they are ruined by a digital rock being put infront of R2D2 or Ewoks being able to blink.

I just love Star Wars, guys. It is so weird to me that something that is basically so universally loved brings out such hatred in the die hard/hardcore fans that proclaim to love it as well. Strange.

Not sure why the hatred thing has gotten spun towards the fans of the original trilogy. If anything it is the few fans of the PT that pop up from time to time saying they are glad that he has not released them and hope they never will. All the original fans I know don't give two hoots about his changes as long as he releases the originals as well. I personally don't care if he changes them. He and Disney can change them until the cows come home as long as film history is preserved and released to those of us that cherish the older films as they were.

I mean release them, have fans fall in love with them and cherish them for years...then basically change them again and then yet again to match the PT and then give us the proverbial finger when the original fans complain that we want was we saw for 20 years in 1080p.

Not strange at all when people have such a love for something that they see as being ruined in some ways.

Part of the hate is because fans have never had the opportunity to watch the originals in an optimized manner on DVD or BD.

The other part of the hate regarding the prequels is because they lack any heart & soul which the originals had. They do not resemble the originals in any meaningful fashion.

So, it's all understandable.

Any fan base would be the same way. Imagine if the original Star Trek series was no longer available except on VHS or done in a total half-ass manner for DVD? Star Trek fans would be furious. Fortunately enough, the original Star Trek series was done EXACTLY the way it should have been done on both DVD and BD.

And the newer Trek movies were far better made than the Star Wars prequels. Yes, Trek fans are happier than Star Wars fans and have reason to be so.

Some shots? The thing's there throughout. When there's a speck of dirt, for instance, you can see a ghost image of the speck for the next few frames. It's disgusting.

I will still take the non-anamorphic laserdisc DVD dubs over magically disappearing and reappearing rocks, Han clumsily ducking out of the way, Crayon Jabba, Jedi Rocks and "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" any day.

That's highly unlikely, and if there were such people, than I am sure it was mostly because the UOT folks were bringing nothing but hatred into this thread, and the SW fans wee simply sick and tired of all the negativity and whining.
Please write a petition for the BD release of the UOT and send it to those in charge. Do you really think the George Lucas would have released the UOT, because some people on here were cursing him to death, telling him he is a hack, a sith lord, etc.? Yeah, that's the right approach.
Positivity and constructive criticism would probably yield better results.
A petition might held. The one I saw was full of negativity and hatred, so I decided not to sign it, but if it were written in a civilized way, I would gladly help out as well.
