Actually you brought up 'chew toys'. I contend that Entitled fan w/bashing siggie demonstrates more "chew toyness" than content fan.
If you believe otherwise, have at it....as I really don't think there's an end in sight here.

Well, oddly enough, he's an artist too. Just a different form of art.

I just want Fox/Disney to release the UOT so these pointless arguements can finally end. They're very tiresome.

The "George Lucas" of the past 20 years bears absolutely no resemblance to the George Lucas that created the Original Trilogy in its original, uncontaminated form. Only in the narrowest legal sense are the two persons the same.

I would love the Gout to be released on Blu-ray
but
knowing me , like I do, I would buy any version of Star Wars restored in 4K
Jedi rocks is the worst change. It doesn't fit in and the song sucks. I don't mind Jabba in Star Wars, I don't see what the big deal is.

He mightn't have envisaged the original versions going out of print for 20 years (half-assed non-anamorphic DVD aside), but he certainly wasn't shy about changing them.
A few years ago I read an article about Dennis Muren talking about the creation of the Special Edition Versions and his opinion on George Lucas not restoring the Theatrical Cuts.

He said he was initially comfortable with the Special Edition changes because he thought that the Theatrical Cuts would coexist with Special Editions. He didn't think that George Lucas would try to make the Special Editions the only versions out there. He even said that George Lucas has not done a good job persevering the Theatrical Cuts.

I don't see the teeth gnashing over films like Amadeus, The Last of the Mohicans, Hellboy, Troy, The Patriot, Heat, Zodiac, and numerous other films (especially comedies like Dodgeball, Harold & Kumar 1 & 2, Superbad, Tropic Thunder, etc.) only available on Blu-ray in editions altered from their theatrical release. Granted none have the success and following of STAR WARS but Amadeus on disc is *not* the film that won Best Picture in March of 1985. But no, Lucas is the devil and he's the only one who does this.

I could've sworn he was laid off of Lucasfilm's social-media astroturfing squad (a la China's "50 Cent Army") after the Disney acquisition... I guess old habits die hard.

Not a very fair comparison. One Amadeus and the rest of the mentioned films have no where near the significance as the original three Star Wars films in cinematic history and two I am sure we will see the theatrical version of Amadeus and the others long before we see the UOT released in 1080. Please you are just grasping at straws now with that comparison. There are a handful here (on this board since 2008) that agree with what Lucas did (a mere handful). Mr. Lucas own peers and legendary film critics have all weighed in on the subject and not one of them sided with Mr. Lucas on the end result. All said they were his films and he could make whatever changes he wanted to, however all said that he should also release the films as they were presented to an entire generation. Case Closed....

Star Wars didn't win Best Picture. Amadeus is arguably more "artistic" as well. But apparently Milos Forman prefers that cut so we're stuck with it. I have a flipper DVD of the original cut and doubt it will be supplanted anytime soon. It's a fair comparison to anyone schooled in film.

and... so did Annie Hall. You think Annie Hall means to cinematic history what Star Wars does? No offense, but this is not about "Best Picture" this is about "historical importance" "films that change the cinematic landscape" and I can name about 5 to 10 films that fall into that category. I would easily put Star Wars in the top 5 most important films of all time. (hence I didn't say "best" films) Just wanted to make my position clear so everyone is not on here giving a list of better films.

Kinda like myself and the Beatles when it comes to Rock n Roll....there is us and then the platforms fall below.

Oh so you have an official DVD of the original version in watchable quality?
So... where is the comparison?

To some people Annie Hall means a lot more to them than Star Wars. You don't agree but that is your personal opinion. I saw Annie Hall, I'm not a fan. But I understand why it won Best Picture. I understand why Chariots of Fire beat Raiders of the Lost Ark. But you and others are MISSING THE POINT: which is MANY films on Blu-ray exist only in altered editions. But you really really like Star Wars so it bothers *you* more than those other films that were altered.
