I think it makes things simpler to have the fans categorized. There are those who feel that the studios should be obligated to release the theatrical cuts just to make them happy and those who are content with the current editions and appreciate the fact that the artist was able to produce a more accurate representation of his original vision.

I think your side is better characterized as "revisionists" instead of "content", as you blindly accept every addle-brained change that the post-decline George Lucas created, even when in complete contradiction of the circa-1977 George Lucas. Not to mention that you and your ilk have no compunction with film history being maliciously altered (i.e. Lucas trying to foist the SEs on the National Film Registry) and only having the ever-changing (for the worse) SEs available for future generations.

As a prime (if oft-overused) example, if George Lucas originally wanted Greedo to shoot first in Star Wars, he would have shot it way. It's not like the the Jabba scene at the spaceport, as there were no technical limitations in having a second character fire a blaster.

Also, if he wanted rocks to magically appear in front of R2D2 while hiding in a canyon niche and then magically disappear without a trace after moving away, it would've been shot that way back in the 70s! It's not like rocks have changed in the last 30+ years...

The prequels and special editions existing doesn't cause the entitled fan's VHS, laserdisc and DVD copies of the theatrical cuts to disappear. You can still watch the theatrical cuts if you want. While us content fans can also enjoy our special editions and prequels too in the way the creator wants them to be shown.

It's hard to be "content" when film history is actively disfigured by the hands of a man whose talents have been on a terminal decline since 1984...
Entitled is exactly spot on. Some fans believe they are owed something when, in fact, they are not. That is a basic definition of entitled.
What you fail to understand is that nobody has a problem with people actually wanting the UOT. I'd love to have it, but it's just not in the cards right now, or perhaps, ever. The difference is most people have acknowledged that fact and can live with it. While others can't get over that fact and will rant/rave until the end of days. And neither side cares to hear what the other has to say.
That's pretty much where we've been for over a decade. Entitled Fan & Content Fan.

the way you get things done in this life is to keep at it until you finally get them to pay attention. NOTHING happens in life by sitting around and saying "oh well". You can be content all you want, but those who AREN'T content have just as much consumer right to argue that fact UNTIL they do so.

I agree, and I "gave it the office" many years ago, to no avail. I've been on both sides of aisle, and believe me, the Content side is much better.
Plus, let's be honest, blasting message boards for over a decade hasn't really gotten the ball rolling.

The VHS, laserdisc and DVD copies are unwatchable on modern displays. The OUT should be released out of respect for ESB and ROTJ's directors and the work they did.

And here we go with more "the creator" GL wank fest talk.

Well you do have the choice of watching it in HD the way the artist wants it to be seen. You do have a choice in the matter.

Not at all. If you like trying to count grains of sand at the beach, be my guest. That's pretty much the equilvalant of blasting message boards in the hopes that someone listens.
Being content, is exactly as advertised, I'm quite content with what I've got. If other agree great. Do I expect 100% agreement, LOL, of course not.

As I said, Entitled Fan wants Content Fan silenced, and Content Fan wants Entitled Fan silenced. That's where we stand.

I'm abiding to the forum rules, it seems that more often than not the anti-prequel and special edition fans have been the ones breaking the rules by claiming the content fans see the movie critics as child molesters for not liking the prequels, calling their taste in film bad because they like the prequels, thread crapping and spamming this thread. I guess I'm just a horrible person for liking the prequels and special editions and for thinking that George Lucas was under no obligation to release the theatrical cuts to a bunch of people who were harassing him for years on end, and I still don't see why the companies should be made to release them since George Lucas no longer owns them.

No, those are probably symptoms of a underlying condition. But since I don't have a copy of the DSM IV handy, that's as much of a diagnosis you'll get from me.

And yes, for a self-proclaimed "film expert" to be advocating for the PT and SEs instead of the award-winning original versions of the 1977-1983 films does undermine your position quite a bit.

The anti-prequel and special edition fans also resort to personal attacks as seen above. I do not appreciate the above user making fun of mental illness as that is a very touchy subject for me.

Another one for the block list and I hope other people will report his posts.

I don't know anyone in "the younger crowd" who likes the PT. My nephews are at the prime age where they were between 5 - 14 when the PT came out and they're smart enough to see them as the insufferable crap that they are.

In fact I've only encountered about 12 people total in my entire life (this includes "online") who prefer the destructive Lucas revisions to the OT and the miserable, incompetently written and directed PT.
