You should probably do some research, as it's not as simple as that. If Disney are releasing these anytime soon it would come as a surprise to quite a few people since it's been reported that Fox still has distribution rights for V and VI till 2020, and IV in perpetuity.

Distribution is just that, distribution. They would not block Disney from a release that would line both their pockets quite heftily if they thought it would

I know, I'm just pointing out that its not as simple as Disney "buying" Star Wars. Fox would definitely have to be involved with any release if true.

This entire discussion is meaningless considering Fox actually owns the crown jewel that everyone wants. There's no way in hell they ever give up EPISODE IV without Disney forking over a serious, serious amount of cash.

Bye 2020 they will only have distribution rights on the original film. It will be much easier to buy them out then.

When you say "they" I assume you mean Fox. If so, maybe that's why they're doing it before then.

FOX like money. It's probably a deal that's already been done. Studios and distributors share profits and authoring costs from releases all the time.

1 - As part of the rights to distribute Episodes 1, 2 and 3, FOX relinquished the Rights to Episode 4.
2 - Disney now owns all 6, but FOX controls the Distribution to all 6 for a few more years.
3 - Owning Rights and Distribution Rights are completely different.

4 - This was "reported" in the Main Star Wars Thread which was locked for a reason.

Take it with a grain of salt, but Yahoo! is also reporting the rumors now. https://games.yahoo.com/news/origina...002200388.html

Dude, there's not a deal large enough, in my eyes, for Fox to take with Disney when it comes to EPISODE IV. It is the crown jewel of Fox's entire history of cinema.

There is no price tag as far as I'm concerned.

If Fox was in serious shape, then maybe. But considering they're about to print money with 3 AVATAR films and with the X-Men films back in full force, I don't see that happening anytime soon.

What we really need on Blu-ray...

Actually, I'd like to replace my DVD of the Ewok movies. Both Ewok movies are on Youtube for those young 'uns that haven't seen them. Can't believe that the double feature DVD is selling for just under $100 on Amazon.

This link was from yesterday. If the other thread is locked, then maybe that's why I didn't find it.

We can't have Star Wars Threads here, all it does is cause people to harass each other.
If you had went and read why, you wouldn't have made this Thread.

It was only locked because not everyone could be civil. The information is fine, and IF these releases do happen, which I expect they will, they deserve their own thread anyway.

My understanding of the entire situation was when Lucas went back to Fox for the merchandising rights and ownership of the sequels (because Fox didn't think anything of that would be worthwhile) , he gave up complete ownership to EPISODE IV.

Yes, but for the Prequel Distributions, he got Episode 4 back.

Until then, this should either have been made in the Wish Lists section or wait until Monday when the Thread gets reopened.

I feel the same way. Also, there's no reason not to be civil. I know there are those who have been wanting these on BD for a long time. This is for them.
