...and there's nothing wrong whatsoever with anybody feeling that way.

In fact, The Last Crusade is my favorite of the Indiana Jones films. No consensus will change that.

I agree that everyone having different tastes is what makes film making great but anyone who thinks that Godfather Part III is the best of the trilogy shouldn't be allowed to watch movies anymore.

Since my opinions are proving so popular, I'll chime in that LAST CRUSADE is mine, as well.

I love, love, love The Godfather Part III and I will defend its brilliance to the death, but better than Part II? You can't beat perfection (unless you're Blade Runner which is like perfection plus one).

"Sarcasm" is like "literally" and "ironic", most people online need to look up the definition before replying to other's posts.

Hi five on ST3! That is the most overlooked and underrated film of the entire series of 12. It's fantastic and succeeds on just about every level.

And I'll admit to thinking Godfather 3 is just fine - I like it better than Goodfellas for example. And think that Temple of Doom is a super close second to Raiders. Not a fan of Crusade because I see it as a remake of Raiders with Connery and this a bit of a copout. Nothing original about that one at all.

If ESB was released today, I'm not so sure it would be considered the best, tho it has some great scenes. The battle of Hoth, Luke and Vader's fight on Bespin, and the final scenes. But in the middle we have a bunch on long, drawn out Dagobah scenes, and Han and Leia hiding in a giant slug's colon. If the "No, I am you father line," had been moved to ROTJ, I'm not sure where that would leave ESB.

It wouldn't be considered great if it were released today (at least by 75% of the film goers). Reason is because today's audiences have the attention span of a five year old and if it's not going 100 miles an hour with special effects galore (plot and acting be damned) then it's no good! Those darn Dagobah scenes where Yoda is building a relationship with Luke! Those things just get in the way!

Well, minus the cutsie teddy bears, I think ROTJ had a better balance of action, spx, and character development.

This is a very good insight. When your film is all about pace, pace, pace, you loose a lot of character building moments. And if your film is constantly going at 100 MPH, it get tedious after a while. Better to build to an action scene and make it memorable rather than having batshit crazy CGI scenes every 10 minutes.

I don't agree with this, especially with the character development. Luke does have an arc, I'll give you that and the Emperor storyline is the best thing in the movie. But Han Solo and company have become bores. Actually, Han's best and last great character moment is in ESB when he has the "I love you"..."I know" line. In ROTJ he's generic Han Solo. Ditto Leia and Lando. I like ROTJ but it's not nearly as good as the first two installments and I actually think (and I'm going to loose some of you here) Revenge of the Sith is a better overall Star Wars movie.

That is a tough one. We are looking at it as if you released the film today and no one had heard of Star Wars before. Certianly in that case it wouldn't be nearly as successful (none of them would be for that matter). And you are right - plot gets in the way of the action so drop the plot for great visuals. Who needs a story to connect those scenes?

But Empire really had an impact on movies as sequels were still not that sure thing like they are today. Without Empire(and Star Wars), the movie scene would be very different today - probably no Indy Jones, no ILM, etc. Would movies be as action centered today if we didn't have the summer blockbusters around back in the 1980's? Remember ILM worked on a lot of those too - how many would have been made or looked as good without a dedicated effects company like them? Would digital be as big? We would probably be a good decade or more behind the time without a movie like Empire. In that case, Empire might still be a game changing movie. So tough to say as you really can't imagine what would have happened without the original Star Wars films and companies like ILM and Pixar.
