I've always heard that it was 3 years between ANH and ESB and 6 months between ESB and ROTJ.

Man, that first hour or so is terrible. I can't get past how fake it all looks on Coruscant, and Ewan's fake beard is even worse. I know it's a really, really idiotic thing to get hung up on, but he looks so different in the reshoots it takes me out of the film. There are obvious reshot scenes in the other two movies where folks look a little different (like fat-face Ewan in TPM, or Hayden going from bulked-up to skinny in one cut in Sith), but they're used sparingly and don't distract me at all, unlike Clones where a great deal of Obi-Wan's role was reshot and which proves how clueless Lucas was about telling this particular part of the story.

Yeah, by the time they get to Naboo there's Lake Como and then the 'Sound of Music' shots in the field which look much better, but the problem then is that the "romantic" dialogue between Padme and Anakin is so tin-eared even James Cameron would disown it and there's zero chemistry there. The imagery is wonderful, like the 'choker' design of Padme's fireside outfit foreshadowing what is to come, but as I said before: these movies can't survive on symbolism alone.

That's why I love it when we get to the Clone Trooper battles: there's no corny dialogue and because it's all CG (which looks terrific to me) there are no distracting seams between the real world and the digital one. And there are certainly no fake beards.

I personally find it had to believe that there is only 6 months between Jedi and Empire...
If these are ages you are off on Star Wars. Luke was 20 when we first meet him

Maybe when it first came out, but officially there's a 19 year gap between Sith and Star Wars. So Luke's 19.

Don't get me started on James Cameron and his corny writing skills.

I love the prequels, and to me, they are superior to the OT in many ways.

When it first came out it was published that he was a 20 year old farm boy. Its even in the novel based on the screen play. Alsu Darth Vader on the back of my ESB bubble gum cards says He was 54. So GL could not even keep his own timeline straight? But then again there were heroes on both sides....

People always complain that Anakin was portrayed as a whiny brat, but it's the whiny brats who do become the bullies of the world.

In fact, my complaint is that in Episode 1, little boy Anakin was not a whiny brat. He should have been. (He did seem to be a bit of a liar though.) But I think that Lucas may have been trying to show how kids become evil when they become teens (perhaps based on his own experiences). Anyone who has ever had a teen in the house wonders who that person is.

Actually you bring up a good point. People forget there are really 2 types of bullies - the agressive, in your face ones that we all know about and then there are the people like this who kiss up and use who they know to get thier way(think the business world). In a world of Jedi, he would be powerless since there are others with similar powers. But use the stormtroopers to get rid of the jedi and then help keep everyone else in line and suddenly he is important and powerful. Yet look at the original films - when things don't go his way, he flips out, blames others, makes threats - your typical brat. That's where the prequels go wrong - instead of showing how someone could get seduced by the darkside, he showed how a whiny brat found power over others. Guess it still works but makes Vader less interesting of a character in the later films.

What Yoda should have said in Empire when training Luke.

Luke: "you expect the impossible" (pouts)
Yoda: (rolls eyes) "Obi Wan, get your ass out here, I can't deal with this shit again."

I borrowed the bonus disc from a friend of my brother's for the OT from the BD set and so far I enjoy it for what it is. Would have preferred other things be on it instead of the parody crap.

Could you give examples?
Blaming others? When?

I never got the impression he was being bratty/whiny in the OT.
He was working for the Emperor who salvaged him into a cyborg.
And he had his personal agenda to connect w/ his kids.
He was portrayed as a middle man in Star Wars underneath Grand Moff Tarkin.
I dont think the Emperor/Sith was even mentioned in SW.

The Emperor is mentioned once in Star Wars. "I've just received word that the Emperor has dissolved the council permanently. The last remnants of the Old Republic have been swept away."

also quantity does not equal quality. thats why two Sith beat a hundred or a thousand, (not sure how many there were) jedi.

just a crappy ending.

[Show spoiler]Vader would not turn on the Emperor that quick or ever. he was completely ruthless for 3 movies except the last 5 minutes of the third? No Way! just because fans want the jedi's to win lucas had to write that cheap ending.

Ditto Leia and Lando. I like ROTJ but it's not nearly as good as the first two installments and I actually think (and I'm going to loose some of you here) Revenge of the Sith is a better overall Star Wars movie.
i agree. i liked the beginning of ROTJ but then it became a cute children's adventure.

Does 40 years go by between Sith and Jedi? Cause Leia/Luke look like early 30 somethings.

I guess a young 30 something Obi-Won (Sith) is in his late 60's/early 70s by Star Wars?
they have great plastic surgeons in that galaxy

Absolutely disagree. You could tell that
[Show spoiler]Vader was having second thoughts when Luke first surrendered himself.
