The cover will be like Space Jam. It will be a combination of Vader's and Anakin's face.

Sometimes, in contrast to this horror, the film’s signs can be effectively elusive—for example, the young man’s first appearance, dropping out of the sky and into the ocean—and even lush, in the film’s intensely atmospheric widescreen images

[Show spoiler] I really doubt he read that, and was making a correlation though

Your perspective is right on the money as they say. This will arguably be the biggest release ever on blu, and one of the most important events in blu-ray's short history. We should gladly take 'em anyway we can get 'em. I don't see the the changes made to the films as a "make it or break it" issue. October 2011 can't come soon enough!

The force to me is something like Chi, an energy flow which we can learn to control.

In China, people strongly believe that you can affect things with the power of Chi, so it's a very similar concept, and since the philosophy behind SW is very Buddhist/Asian, I think George Lucas had something like that in mind.

I can tell you right now that I will not buy that box set aaaauhhh gin! Lucas got me for $400 on the Laserbox special Edition Star Wars, I spent $180 Japanese version of the Phantom Menace and I bought the recent trilogy one by one. He's not getting me for a super wooper duper Blu-Ray as well. HOWEVER I may buy a bare bones version if offered at a decent price and even then that may be in 2012...

What do you expect really? You paid $400 for packaged media, not exclusively handcrafted jewelry that will be hard to replicate. Hey, at least you got the cool packaging, right?

Hmmm......Let's start with it being on sale upon release!

$19.99 (Each movie) x 6 = $120
$15.00 (Artwork, extras, interviews) x 6 = $90
$5.00 (George Lucas tax) x 6 = 30

Total = $240 + tax

Xmas 2011 $199 + tax

Retail after the holidays $275 + tax

I still have it and pull it out from time to time and I was happy when I purchased it at the time, very happy. That box set is unaltered from the original theatrical releases and has none of the additions he released in the movies in I think 1996? But been there done that!!!

1993 transfer. 480i, 2 channel stereo. Flipping/changing discs ever 25-30 min.

Some color noise and other NTSC artifacts. Some pressing artifacts like speckling (dots), and prime candidate for laser rot like other Mitsubishi Japan pressed material.

Not to mention praying that your LD player doesn't break (those rubber belts and other moving parts can only last so long).

The Special Editions were done in 1997. I also have that CLV box set that was released Christmas of that year for a mere $125.

I'd say after 18 years (2011) you would have received your ROI.

Actually laserdisc is 425i NTSC and 440i for PAL. So not even as good as DVD.

But anyway...just because some people fell for the highly overpriced LD fad of the '90s before DVDs in '97, doesn;t mean they should ****** off to upgrading something to 1080p BD.

Lincoln LaserDisc was not a 90's fad, it's was a around for a very long time it was just expensive. It's hey day was probably between 1985 - 1995. Keep in mind during this time the video and audio on LD was superior. The extended version of the Abyss was made available on LD before it was released on any other format since then.

All too true, I was referring to the output signal. Actually due to noise and other analog artifacts pretty much only specially pressed LDs out of absolutely premium players got 425 lines. When you letterbox an image that much (over 45% of the screen is black) the actual resolution of the SW LDs drops to the 200's.

LD actually came out in the late 1970's. The image was quite an upgrade over VHS, and some LDs (thru S-Video) rivaled some of the early DVDs that used the same masters. You had quite a few LD diehards who refused to go DVD until they absolutely had to. I wasn't one of them, I got my first DVD in October of 1997, the Sony DVP-S3000. Paid $599 for that puppy.

If you spent $400.00 on that, I doubt you'll be able to resist when it's released on blu ray. You know you want Empire on blu ray.
