I'll have to watch 4,5 and 6 again, trailer for episode 7 was awesome. It will hopefully make up for the horrible prequel trilogy.

So I won't be counting it as part of the Saga!
It's obviously part of the series. Empire and Jedi left off their Episode tag for marketing purposes as well. Episode VII will be there in the crawl. This is the first part of a third trilogy in a 9 part saga. The spin-off movies will be stand-alones.

I'll hunt around for either the Original Release DVD's or the 3rd Release DVD's of the Original Trilogy. Maybe even both...
I was really tired yesterday, so perhaps I didn't make myself very clear.

I had seen ROTS about 5 times in the theater, several times on DVD, and multiple times on BD.

Until recently, I only had a relatively high end stereo system, but have since upgraded to surround sound, and calibrated the gamma to more accurately see the content as intended, and it was such a revelation.

ROTS has the BEST John Williams score of all the SW movies in my opinion, even though I don't want to choose, as all the episodes have genius scores, AOTC being the weakest, thanks to apparent editing after the fact.....

I honestly think the BDs look fantastic, especially the OT.
If they look hardly better than DVDs, I will eat my week old socks in public!!!

They are not quite perfect, but rather incredible looking!

The PT is a 3,5-4/5 for TPM, 4,5/5 for AOTC, and an easy 5/5 for ROTS, so that's not too shabby, if you ask me.

Have you seen the saga on BD yet?

I tell you, my life has been so much better since I have learned to use the ignore button!!!

There is no point discussing anything with them. It's a lose/lose situation.

The thing is, what exactly do people want from the unaltered original trilogy? There are so many versions out there mainly in terms of sounds and lines missing etc. Further to that, do the fans want the full on originals, I mean the original looking version that came out in 1977, 1980 and 1983? So does that mean they include the orange blob under the speeder in Mos Eisely? Or the "broken" looking laser blasts at certain parts of A New Hope etc?

I think everyone's definition of what constitutes the "original version" may differ somewhat. I'd personally take just a cleaned up version with some of the original FX tidied up. Also, would these original versions retain some of the cuts to the laser blast hits which Lucas took out?

I should imagine that people simply want the original 1977, 1980 and 1983 theatrical versions, as they originally looked and sounded at the cinemas. No alterations.

I'd personally take a "tidied up" version with a lot of the restoration they did for the Blu Ray releases and some of the special effects fixed, like bad green screening.

This fan wants all of those things, yes.

I would settle for the 93 editions, cleaned up to today's standards, but I'd ideally like to have all versions as each has their merits/faults. Although I don't think I particularly need to see the 97 editions again.

Yes, that's why I haven't bought them yet.
PT or OT.
I think that they all look and sound terrible.

I know. I was kidding because the last 3 films when the Title of the film popped up, it first showed Star Wars, then Episode ??, then the Title. This new one, Just does Star Wars, then Title. If going by this trailer, then when the random, stand-alone movies gets released, it'll seem confusing to those that really don't know Episode Movies from the Stand-Alones.

That and with no ep #, At least right now, I can keep this movie separate from the first 6, because I really didn't like the look, feel or content in this trailer. I will reserve final judgement until I actually see it, but, for me, there's no real hype.

What does that have to do with anything? He said it looked like a cute funny droid was picked out of a Pixar movie when cute funny droids were there since the first Star Wars movie. In other words, that shot is pure Star Wars.

Our logic is flawed because we don't agree on the merits of the PT or that we want the UOT released on BD? That we don't agree that Lucas can release these films to the world in 77,80 and 83 build his fan base and then pull the rug out?Ok....

I want them without the additions, but they need to be fully remastered, restored, with a lossless 5.1 audio track and look just as good as the current BDs on the market. Just without the additional stuff like "Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo" and the CGI.

BTW, my post on The Force Awakens disappeared, but it looks freaking awesome. It looks and feels like Star Wars. Plus, it is done by the man who made Star Trek watchable, so I have complete faith in him. Not just that, but the new lightsaber looks amazing and badass.

Tbh the Special Editions could do with a redo as well when it comes to visual presentations.

The current BD's look alright but they could look a hell of a lot better if they were to be rescanned at a higher resolution, have less digital processing applied and better colour timing.
