...or they will announce that the Blu-rays will come in a box, in 1080p and with lossless audio...

I think they should announce that StereoMike and StereoMike only will have to pay a 100% mark-up on this set.

I still think a lot of people are going to be very disappointed with how the OT and maybe Episode I too look in HD. Granted George Lucas practically wrote the book on HD, that doesn't change the fact that the OT is all pretty much 30 years old, which is why unlike others I actually hope we get the special editions with updated effects.

No freaking way he includes the theatrical versions of all six films in this set. I would love that...only so the damn bickering with Lucas and the fanbase would end, but I'm just not seeing it.

After all these years of talk, Lucas is going to change his mind for Blu Ray?

If this indeed happens, and the theatrical versions are restored to an acceptable level (they won't be as good looking or sounding as the "Final Editions"), I'll buy two copies and give one away for free on this forum.

I mean, just no freaking way after all these years....

Yeah really..... My A$$ will be parked outside of whatever store I need to be at to get my copies on release day!

Although - Amazon preorder works too.

4)Episode 1 will get a whole new restoration including replacing puppet yoda with cgi yoda.
5)8 disc set- 6 reserved for the movies themselves and- 2 for all the special features.
6)The original versions will be included in the set but will be in their original form
7)There will be a sneak peek at 3d versions
8)The release date will be 10/18/11

Hopefully this rumor is true.
What does this mean?

And I'll believe the price is that low on release day when I see it.

No one wants my blood. It's tainted with Jack Daniels and an STD I got from a hobbit.

If that's the case, I really don't see what the point would be to include them. If they are in fact the exact same as what was on the previous dvds.

He would have to have them in HD if he included the theatrical cuts. What would be the point of putting them on this Blu Ray set? You can get them, non-anamorphic on DVD right now....why duplicate that?

And, if true, he'd have to do via seamless branching if this set really is 8 discs, six for the films. Lucas is not going to have the films on each disc encoded twice. He's too into picture quality to do that.

Not even holding my breathe because this isn't going to happen.

Move along...

To me, original versions in their original forms means the original theatrical releases... Unaltered, non-special editions in their original aspect ratio(s).

Well if that is true about the original cuts of the OT being on the blu-ray release this is going to be the best blu-ray box set of all-time.

They'd be included as "bonus features," I'm sure. As far as I know, that's (legally) the only way he can distribute them without sending some coinage out to his ex-wife.
