IMO if that is true then they should just put the Pan & Scan 1.33 on the blu-ray. who want a small "Pill Box" in HD?!

They should "Branch" the OOT with the newer print like what was done for Terminator 2! All Version's in Full HD. wile the film plays you can press one of the color buttons to switch between versions to compare.

Ah, if only somebody would make a fan cut of A New Hope and Return of The Jedi.

Updated graphics plus Han shot first minus the updated Jabba's Palace concert plus Sebastian Shaw as Anakin's ghost plus the Ewok's song = Perfect IMO.

I'd be happy.

If it's a bundled 3D exclusive. I think it's going to sell some 3D HDTV sets. (Because, I'll want to buy one.)

It's 100% impossible to branch the OOT. There are too many changes between versions.

if they are releasing the films in 3d, they would have 2 different sets right??

i can't see lucas taking this long to commit to blu-ray and then go b@ll$ in and do everything, 3d included, right away all in 1 package.

He wouldn't do 3D yet because he has to release them theatrically in 3D first. He's somewhat hurting his bottom line if he releases the six films in 3D on Blu Ray a few months before Episode I gets release theatrically in 3D.

It doesn't make sense for him to do so...

That would suck. So thankfully it will never happen. The changes outside of maybe Han/Greedo were huge improvements.

Gotta love how much people complain about Lucas altering his films..... yet seem to fully support illegal fan edits.

I personally would love to a set similar to Blade Runner, where all the different versions are available. That way all parties would be satisfied. I know I'd be willing to pay a premium for a set like that.

I've been pondering as to what the announcement will be, and I think that what will happen is that they are going to announce that The Phantom Menace in 3D will be released in theaters sometime this Summer, and the BD set (2D) will be released right after the theatrical run for The Phantom Menace

Read the past few pages and you'll get caught up on some of the rumors.

I myself like the PTs but I wonder who would go to a screening of the Phantom Menace 3D except the most stalwart fans (that like 3D).

3D is itself a torn prospect (love-hate-indifferent). It's not majority liked or majority hated so I wonder with this in mind what kind of numbers they are expecting for Eps 1 and 2.

I imagine Eps 3, 4 and 5 being the most successful, but even then provided the Blu-Ray releases are superb, how many would be willing to see it in 3D taking into account the ticket price?

I don't know, BUT I guess the 3D releases will appeal to a new generation of kids like the 97 re-releases, with parents also having an "excuse" to see it again

BUT, in '97 tv quality (resolution, screen size etc), surround sound, widescreen etc were all shite compared to today so the appeal to go back to the cinema in '97 isn't quite the same in 2011 (I would see episodes 2, 3, 5 & 6 if they did a small run of 2D releases, just to see them on the big screen + big sound system (I myself have a 42" tv and a 5.1 system)).

I read them before I posted . Just throwing my .02 cents out there .

From a marketing standpoint (which Lucas seems to know quite well), I think my idea is very plausible. We'll see though.

Any Star Wars news is good news regardless though
