You're not the only one. Tempted though I was to pick them up on Blu-ray, I've held on to my limited edition tin with the theatrical cuts included.

Of course, I am serious. The ROTS Yoda is perfect.

The puppet looks, well, like a puppet.

I know it's an upsetting thought to some, but I would love that to happen.

I am for going back and replacing all of the CGI creatures in the prequels with puppets. They should also dig up Sebastian Shaw, scan his corpse and replace Hayden Christensen with it.

Wonder who they could replace Jake Lloyd with?

The corpse itself would probably would deliver a more convincing performance, even before being digitally animated...

A less whiny one to be sure.

Yoda looks fine in episodes V and Vl. They changed him to CGI in the prequels because the puppet looked like dog sh%t!!!

Yeah I never understood why the puppet in TPM ended up looking so terrible. But I guess it's kind of fitting that the worst star wars movie would also end up featuring the worst rendition of Yoda.

They were originally going to use cgi but the model looked like crap so they were forced to use the puppet again. My guess is, the puppet was thrown together last minute so it wasn't really finished.

Could't they use the original puppet of Empire Strikes back/Return of the Jedi?
hadn't it been preserved or something?

The club scene sure took its toll on Yoda between Sith and Empire.

Why didn't they use the original puppet from the original trilogy? Was it missing, worn out, what?

I'd guess that it was looking worn out and George wanted a younger looking yoda. I'm tempted to say George wanted to move on to CGI but he bothered to have a new yoda made for TPM, which I'm glad he replaced with CGI yoda later.

It still exists but isn't in a usable condition. Props and puppets aren't always built to last.

There was a report that Lucas had considered replacing the Yoda puppet in Ep 5 and 6 for the 2011 Blu-rays. In one sense we were lucky to just get a big stupid rock in front of R2 and the Vader "Noooo" added in the Blu OT.

You and I already went over this several years ago: George is evil for making films and videos for profit, (just like every other filmmaker does), you have the moral authority to judge him as evil because you heal the sick for free, you get to personally insult anyone who doesn't agree, and anyone who expresses a dissenting opinion is attacking you. We already played your game, and I quit because the rules were lame. Don't start it again. Years may have passed, but your attempt at engagement is still no less unwelcome.

I don't recall asking you to Bear your Testimony, and sane adults generally don't self-gratify in public. What part of my quoted comment could have encouraged you to recite the Articles of Faith yet again?
Ah, yes. I forgot. The internet is your own personal venue for expressing yourself. Nobody else is allowed. Sorry about that. I hate it when I forget these kinds of things!

Carry on.

Online rumors are now "reports".

The Internet makes the Weekly World News look like a Pulitzer-winner.
Can't believe the garbage people are willing to believe these days.

Considering the asinine changes that GL has made to the OT over the last 18 years (and the fact that puppet-Yoda was indeed eventually replaced by CG in TPM), that rumor at least had the air of plausibility.

Nope, he actually wanted to stick with muppets/puppets...
CG really started when the Jar Jar suit was damaged in Tunisia during a sandstorm.
Rick was the one to urge him to go CG for characters.
George was pissed. It's all on the old 80-gazillion part series on the DVD's.

He wanted a younger looking Yoda and was disappointed, overall with how the puppet looked, even back then. The people who were at ILM weren't nearly as talented as the older crew.

So, as soon as the chance presented itself, he got rid of it!
