Maybe. Maybe not, press releases in 1998 regarding the prequels stated LucasFilm locked up distribution for the saga for 20 years. News Disney had bought out Paramount for Indiana Jones recently came out of nowhere, as well as the whole Sony/Marvel/Spider-Man saga, so who knows what's going on behind the scenes. BUT...20th Century Fox DOES NOT OWN A NEW HOPE.

What would you prefer if you could only have one?

Brand new modern 4K scans of the originals in their current special edition state on Blu-Ray with bellow average packaging?

or

the theatrical editions of the OT cleaned up and in anamorphic widescreen only on DVD with top of the line packaging?

I added in the packaging part because that is so important to many of you on this site...
DVD anamorphic OT. But I would prefer a Blu-ray of it.
The current "special edition state" sucks.

720 is still HD (sorta) last time I looked. And listening to the experts over there in fantasyland there is not that much difference.

I'm fascinated about how you'll respond to this question:

If I'm wrong why is the original film with the Fox copyright notice at the end of the trailer, and more importantly: why is it the only one that doesn't have the Disney Anywhere features?

Because that would be two pretty big coincidences.

Disney doesn't do "Disney Anywhere" on titles they don't distribute. Which is why Thor isn't in my "Disney Anywhere" collection, despite it being in iTunes. Because I redeemed the code that came with the Paramount Blu-ray, before Disney started to distribute it themselves.

No, it means for digital distribution purposes, the Fox distribution contract for A New Hope might be entagled with terciary agreements with other digitial distribution vendors like UltraViolet (or streaming services like Vudu). Riddle me this -- Why at 58 seconds in to a VUDU trailer you claim is defintive proof Fox "owns a New Hope" does it read in plain English, "Star Wars A New Hope Trademark and Copyright of LucasFilm Ltd. 2015"? You don't need a coincidence, it's spelled out right in front of your eyeballs.

Default Star Wars: The Complete Saga, Original & Prequel Trilogy - Sept 16, 2011 - Re...

Because I understand that trademark is for the Star Wars name and logo.

Literally the same notice shows up on a Sony-owned Spider-Man or Batman movie. Or a Fox-owned X-Men movie. Fox doesn't own the intellectual property but they own the movie itself.

And this notice shows up at the end of the ANH trailer because the footage itself is copyright 20th Century Fox.

The trailer is copyright Fox, the movie is copyright LucasFilm, as it says in the credits and in this trailer you're so impressed with.

As a wiser man than me, one Bob McKenzie, once said..."You're cute. If I didn't have puke breath, I'd kiss you."

Have you? 58 seconds in to the trailer..."Star Wars A New Hope copyright and trademark Lucasfilm, Ltd., 2015, all rights reserved" and at the end of the film itself, the end credits state the film is the property of LucasFilm.

We've been through this again and again and again and again. Fox is the DISTRIBUTOR. They DON'T OWN THE MOVIE.

Default Star Wars: The Complete Saga, Original & Prequel Trilogy - Sept 16, 2011 - Re...

The copyright notice you're referring to is merely about the title and logo. Which you keep ignoring.

Fox doesn't own the Star Wars name or the trademarked logo. But the actual footage you watch when you're watching the movie itself is owned by Fox outright.

Thor is in my DMA as is Captain America! I redeemed the code in iTunes many years ago. They transfered right over to DMA when that started

You can post all the gifs you want. Doesn't make the nonsense you post correct. And I'll ask you again: why does that one trailer have the Fox copyright and why is it missing the Disney-branded Anywhere feature?

I bought Fantasia via a now-defunct Disney on-line service linked to Disney Movie Rewards, and the movie unexpectedly appeared in my DMA when I signed up for that, even though you can't buy Fantasia anymore through DMA -- I think that's the same thing happening with some people having early Marvel films and some not. Depends on how you bought them and when. Kicking myself for not doing the same thing with Pinocchio, Dumbo and Bambi.
