Thanks for the idea. I just "re-redeemed" (if that's a term) the code, and now it's in DMA.

By the way, where are you people seeing the Star Wars movies in VUDU? When I did a search, this is all I found:

This linked to a Star Wars playing card copyright for me.

This Hollywood Reporter article about the Lucasfilm sale says "distribution."

My link now redirects to "Your session has timed out." I'm not sure why that is. To avoid confusion and having to pick through all of the various genres of media, if you do your own search, under "set search limits" you can limit your search strictly to motion pictures. Searching "star wars" under these parameters turns up 162 entries--#43 is the film itself. You shouldn't see anything about a playing card.

I apologize, but for anyone who does not realize (because apparently there are some who don't) copyrighted works are legally submitted to the Register of Copyright in the Library of Congress in Washington, DC. This is how a claim of ownership to a work of art is made legally recognized. Through the government website copyright.gov anyone may search the entire catalog (literally everything) of copyrighted works registered at the Library of Congress for basic information related to a given work, including ownership.

Point being, it is not some "article" or made up website by some random guy. It is an indisputable resource from the very source of legal copyright protection under federal law. Copyright claimant means owner. I own copyrights to work of music. When I search them in the database, under copyright claimant, it says my name because I own them. If ownership of those works transferred to someone else, my name would be replaced. It is not open to interpretation.

I apologize to everyone who wants to just talk about Star Wars and hate the arguing. I just think, for anyone who is curious to know such things, copyright.gov is a perfect resource for everyone to utilize if they wish.

Default Star Wars: The Complete Saga, Original & Prequel Trilogy - Sept 16, 2011 - Re...

First of all, you're making yourself look foolish with your naive belief that copyright law isn't open to interpretation based on the fact that you wrote some songs. Do you realize how ridiculous that looks? Try telling that to a lawyer.

Secondly, your beloved copyright.gov site lists 20th Century Fox as one of the copyright holders of the film on Document Number: V3603D494. It lists LucasFilm too because it's full of intellectual property that is controlled by LucasFilm outright. And naturally an individual registry that doesn't have enough text to fill up a sticky note doesn't paint a full picture of the terms of the trademarks and/or copyrights.

Third: you can see the end result on the Vudu page: 5 Disney titles, 1 Fox title. 5 titles eligible for Disney Movies Anytime, one ineligible. You could post a thousand links and the actual reality of the situation wouldn't match.

And we've already played this game before. If I recall correctly someone challenged me to look it up at Library of Congress and it supported the Fox ownership. Then someone ran to copyright.gov and pulled some listing out that wasn't actually for the movie itself. LucasFilm has the rights to practically everything BUT the actual original movie itself so it's easy to dig up vague registries that seem to support their ownership but they obviously don't hold up.

How about them blu-ray's huh?? Has there been any new news regarding Disney releasing the UOT with fresh 4K scans. With episode 7 hitting theater's in December, now would be the perfect time to give us fans exactly what we've been waiting for!!!!!!!

Unfortunately, nothing so far.

And to point out; Thunderbird 6 has an "ITC" copyright, yet United Artists co-made and owns the film. I'm saying this is exactly the same point on the ownership with IV; made by Fox and Lucasfilm, Fox owns the rights.

How about this; can't we agree that IV is owned by BOTH Fox and Lucasfilm? Will THAT make everyone feel better?

Did anyone snag a screenshot or otherwise of the "extras" included before it was taken down? One of the articles I read said it had extensive extras listed - and of course, I'm curious how they stack up to the Blu-ray set (if it's all just duped, or if there is actual new content there).

No screenshot but it included stuff seen on the Blu-rays like 'Anatomy of a Dewback'. There was also stuff that seemed like it was taken from the old Definitive Edition LD set, though I could be wrong.

Yeah, as I keep saying...distribution rights are not ownership. LucasFilm owns Star Wars. When LucasFilm wants to release Star Wars, Fox gets the job.

Another bizarre thing about this whole debate is that this thread seems to be like a mini-Twilight Zone where the only 3 or 4 people in the world who think the original Star Wars film is a Disney title are vehemently insisting its the case.
Star Wars is a LucasFilm title. Disney is the parent company.

20th Century Fox owned full rights to the original film until they sold it to Lucas in 1998 in exchange for a lower distribution fee for the prequels and broadcast rights to Episode I. In late 2012, The Walt Disney Company announced a deal to acquire Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion, with approximately half in cash and half in shares of Disney stock.Although Disney will now own the rights to all Star Wars films, under a previous deal with Lucasfilm, the distribution rights to the first film will remain with Fox in perpetuity, while the distribution arrangements for the remaining films are set to expire in 2020

Simply Disney will do whatever they want and Fox will shut up get paid and go along for the ride.

I just saw this listing of the extras: http://makingstarwars.net/2015/04/st...sting-on-vudu/

I was right, it does have some of those old LD extras like How Walkers Walk.

All the footage from the VUDU trailer was from the SE, Terminated. Wouldn't surprise me in the least to see a Blu-Ray re-release including the SE on one disc, the UOT on another, with codes for a digital copy of the SE. For the prequels, standard on one disc, 3D on another, and digital copy code.

Interesting that for the ads, they've dropped the "Episode #", and are going with the titles instead. A callback to how the OT films were advertised, or just more efficient?
