It would've been cool to have had a different costume for the Jedi though. They toyed with more samurai-looking designs for Ep I but ultimately just went with the basic OT look.

One of the things they did to keep continuity to the old movies and not the other way around and there are still complaints...

Meh. If it was a choice between keeping the Jedi costumes the same or making the story properly line up between the trilogies, I know which one I'd prefer. Unfortunately Lucas seemed to think that the former was enough...

The store does align though...

except for that bit in Empire where Obi-Wan has no knowledge of Leia...

I haven't seen the movies before technically, just about 40 minutes of the first in 5th grade once. I figure I should finally get around to watching them before the new one comes out, but unsure what order to watch them in.. production order or chronological order? I'm sure most will say in production order (4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3) but I was wanting some thoughts on it from others.

Get the UOT 4,5 & 6 (watch it 3 or 4 times) let it become ingrained in your brain. Then watch 1,2,3,4,5,6 for back story. Then the week before you go see VII in the theater pull out the UOT and watch 4,5,6 again....

I believe KK and JJ are trying to distance themselves from the PT. In fact it would not suprise me at all if around 2020 we see a box set that excludes 1-3.

Watch the original versions of 4, 5, and 6 only.

The odds of 7 having much to do with the rightly-derided prequels is rather low, and you'll save yourself from unnecessarily watching 6 hours of dreck.

Never under any circumstances kill the big reveal in TESB if you have never seen them. Once you have seen them then thats a different story.

If someone already knows the twist without seeing them though, then what difference does it make?

Star Wars was an amazing experience in 1977, and you can listen in.

William Forsche took a tape recorder with him the second time he saw the original Star Wars with his mother, and this clip provides just a few minutes of how that experience sounded.

This was before Star Wars entered into the pop culture as something we took more or less for granted, and this sort of blockbuster experience wasn't yet common in movie theaters. Hearing the crowd react to Han Solo coming back to save the day at 2:51 is a high point of the recording.

This is a great way to get a taste of what it was like in the early days of the fandom behind Star Wars. It's not time travel, but it may be as close as some of us get, and it's great fun to hear what it was like for audiences to experience these scenes for the first time.

Imagine all the wrong numbers ... you'd have to get a non-listed number otherwise people would end up in your kitchen at 2am after drunk-dialling.

Time-travelling teleporters would help in some of our other threads, don't know what colour that guy's sweater was in Goodfellas? I'll be back in five minutes ...

Why not come back from the past before the controversy begins?

I am so glad I don't have to do that. I enjoyed all three on opening day. By far the best times (including Jaws, CEOTTK, Alien, Blade Runner, Superman and Raiders of the Lost Ark) that I ever had at a theater.

Just saw this on Yahoo. Looks like its getting more and more popular.

That was great. Tried to put some of that audio to the original Star Wars images (with all credit to William Forsche).

That what i'm hoping for, i'm actually ok with a majority of the changes, and most of the one i don't like are concentrated to the first half of A New Hope, if it's more like the 97 special additions without the Jabba scene and Han shooting first i'll be fine with that

I`m not sure if there is anything that compares to the hysteria that followed the original SW film these days. I was there and I have never seen anything like it since. It was unbelievable how quickly it became a part of the human experience; not just in one country but pretty much all over the world. And, here we are, almost 40 years later still talking about it.
