Do any of you think we'll see a Blu-ray re-release of these movies anytime soon? I just really don't like the cardboard book packaging style for "The Complete Saga", so I stayed away (I already own them all on DVD).

Ok....... than don't watch the movies and don't comment on Star Wars news or happenings pretty simple way too handle something you don't like right?! I don't like Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings and I don't spend any time or energy disliking it, I feel this is might be a difficult concept that may go over your head

They have every right to. No quantifiable force (!) like God has come down and declared them bad films. Thereby, they're not officially bad films. It's. Subjective.

The real issue is that the people who don't like them can't let people go ahead and like them. And that's not only childish, but elitist, rude and inconsiderate. George Lucas raped your childhood? It can't be, since it sounds like you're still living it.

Here's an idea: if you don't like the prequels, but someone else does, just say "I didn't like them, but that's great for you" and be done with it. Be respectful and adult, for crying out-loud.

My attitude towards anybody who doesn't understand all art and film is subjective I ignore that person and have no further conversation with them, I don't have time to bother dignifying anyone who thinks in such a simple black and white thought pattern.

Neither do I, but they are FAR better than many people give them credit for.
I have openly voiced my criticism towards George's approach on here.

2. At heart. Sure.

Ok, I think we should stop arguing what are the better films, and wait for 20 years!

History will show which are the better films!
And History is relentless!!

It's already been 10 years since Sith, and 16 years since Phantom Menace. History has already judged, and it has found the PT severely lacking.

There are normal cases and Steelbooks available if you don't like the book-style. The UK set is a Digistak.

The UK release is only $71 shipped at Amazon UK, so as long as you're OK with nanny-state ratings logos it's probably your best bet.

The UK discs are region-free and identical to the US release, by the way.

What's wrong with the ratings? It's only there to stop kids from buying unsuitable films from stores.

I wouldn't want my kid to be able to walk in to a shop and be able to buy an 18 rated game or film.

1) They're eyesores that interfere with proper art design, especially since they have to be plastered on all 3 sides of a movie's cover by law.

2) They're wholly unnecessary for retail purchase control, as major retailers in the US can and do screen for age based on programming the register tell the clerk to "check ID" on given UPC codes...

You're just lucky that Wales doesn't have their own ratings logos, as having 16 consecutive consonants in a row would make for a design that outranks even Australia and especially New Zealand for crappy aesthetics...

It doesn't have the book-style packaging either.

Which was a huge benefit to me and why I purchased the UK set.

The ratings logos are unobtrusive and I kind of like them - they are a neat conversation piece and the art sucks anyway (take the 2nd most reviled character in the entire series and put them alone on the cover??), LOL.

Plus I got it within a week of release and paid almost half what the US one cost.

If I get the complete BR set of Star Wars...is there any reason to hold on to the bonus features (4th disc) of the original trilogy dvd set?? Or are all those docs and behind the scenes stuff all included on the newer set?

Keep it. Afaik none of them are on the complete saga. I kept mine. And my prequel disks. I hope we get a rerelease with everything someday.

Default Welcome To The New Revised Original Trilogy!!!

Original Star Wars Trilogy Adaptations Get September 22nd Release Date

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away….

That’s how it all started. And it will soon continue. With the world anxiously awaiting the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens this holiday season, Disney-Lucasfilm Press has decided to revise the saga for a whole new generation of readers. In a new series coming September 22, fans will experience the original trilogy in an entirely different way, with Star Wars: A New Hope — The Princess, The Scoundrel, and The Farm Boy by Alexandra Bracken (the Darkest Minds series), Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back — So You Want to Be a Jedi by Adam Gidwitz (A Tale Dark & Grimm series), and Star Wars: Return of the Jedi — Beware the Power of the Dark Side! by Tom Angleberger (the Origami Yoda series).

But these are more than just mere retellings from this top talent; these are fresh interpretations — true to the films but filtered through each author’s vision. In each novel, the authors get inside the characters’ heads, tell us about the scenes between the scenes, and even teach us how to be a Jedi.

Check out a digital excerpt from The Princess, The Scoundrel, and The Farm Boy:

Now that's just too cold; the blue octagonal logo (IFCO) on some UK releases is for the Republic of Ireland, not Scotland or Northern Ireland. I agree that Australia's logos are overkill, but IMO the BBFC & IFCO logos are a badge of honor for a more open and less hypocritical ratings system, though IMO still not quite perfect (BBFC still comes down way too hard on horror).
