Empire of Dreams is only on that DVD, there are excerpts on StarWars.com, but the DVD is the best way to see it until they release the full version in HD.

Star Wars: A New Hope — The Princess, The Scoundrel and The Farm Boy
Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back — So You Want to Be a Jedi
Star Wars: Return of the Jedi — Beware the Power of the Dark Side!

Want to be a Jedi, do you

Would have been a much better way of writing it.

Default Early Draft of Star Wars Found in a Canadian Library.

Apparently an early draft of 1977’s Star Wars has been resting in the archives of the University of New Brunswick Library for at least 20 years unnoticed. Since February, Kristian Brown, the librarian at University of New Brunswick and big science fiction fan, has been undergoing a project aimed at cataloguing and digitizing the university’s collection of science fiction books and magazines.

The script is seemingly legitimate, containing official Lucasfilm Industry stamps on the cover page. The early draft does feature some noticeable differences and one interesting similarity to the film’s release version.

Of note are:

“The protagonist’s name is listed Luke Starkiller instead of Luke Skywalker.”

The script is also characterized as “Saga I” while the film would later be retitled as “Episode IV: A New Hope” after it became a box office success and spawned several sequels and prequels. Sections of the script showcase characters written differently than they appear on screen, not to mention scenes that were cut entirely.

When Lucasfilm re-released the films in 1997, the special edition altered a scene where Han Solo is met by a bounty hunter.

In the original, Solo fires at the alien, killing it without warning. The 1997 version changed the scene to make Solo look as if he was acting in self-defence. A change which incensed fans.

“I’ll tell you one thing, right now,” Brown gleefully points out.

“Based on the script, I can tell you 100 per cent, HAN SHOOTS FIRST!!!

(Now this should end that debate once and for all!!)

1 - There was never any doubt about this.
2 - Han DOESN'T shoot first!
He is the ONLY ONE TO SHOOT!

That's probably the most controversial edit that Lucas has ever made to the original trilogy. When my parents took me and my brother to see the first Star Wars movie back in the summer of 1977, I remember that experience and will always treasure it, as one of those fond memories that I have of my parents and the experience that I shared with my dad.

Despite the changes that Lucas has made to the original trilogy, Han will always shoot first.

Yep, but I don't think that article is aimed at us old timers. It's been nearly 20 ****ing years since the SEs came out, that's a generation of kids right there who've grown into adults knowing only the SEs and the prequels and whatnot, hence the "revelation" in that article being old news to people who were aware that such a thing existed as the original version of Star Wars.

The article is from March and cites another article from August 2014 as its source.

Exactly. If and when the UAT is announced I'll expect when I click on this thread to read the first unread post that I've read since the last time I was in this thread to be 100 more pages after that unread post. Maybe more than that.

Didn't get to the bottom?

Update: According to the AV Club, Lucasfilm says the script is probably "fan-made" replica. We'll update you once we hear more about this news.
