I remember Disney announced the 60th Anniversary Edition Blu-Ray of Alice in Wonderland in August of 2010. Now apparently the situation was that Disney wanted to release the Blu-Ray in March of 2010, around the same time as the theatrical release of the 2010 Live-Action Tim Burton adaptation. However they couldn't get the Blu-Ray done in time. So they re-released the movie on DVD and it was basically a repackage of the 2-Disc Masterpiece Edition but called Special Un-Anniversary Edition.

The 60th Anniversary Edition Blu-Ray ended up being released of February of 2011 and it was an excellent release!

Maybe Disney is planning on released the Original Theatrical Unaltered Versions of The Star Wars Trilogy on Blu-Ray but they can't get it out in time for the theatrical release of The Force Awakens so that could be why Fox is re-releasing The Complete Saga and each movie individually in a Steelbook.

Agreed. Major incompetence and laziness on someone's part never to fix it on those DVDs.

Sony Classical has announced it will be reissuing the original Star Wars soundtracks via new definitive editions early next year.

According to StarWars.com, three different bundles will be available, including Star Wars: The Ultimate Vinyl Collection, Star Wars: The Ultimate Soundtrack Edition, and Star Wars: The Ultimate Digital Collection.

The Ultimate Vinyl Collection includes all six soundtracks in "deluxe gatefold sleeves," sporting each film's original artwork. Meanwhile, The Ultimate Soundtrack Edition packs together all six in mini-album jackets, as well as an extra CD with audio interviews, the Star Wars: A Musical Journey DVD, and a fold-out poster with three collectible stickers. Finally, The Ultimate Digital Collection includes each soundtrack as a high-definition download.

All three compilations feature the composition work of John Williams, and will release worldwide on January 8, 2016.

Trust the soundtracks to get vastly superior artwork to the actual films.

I got this in the mail today:

Sad that it doesn't have the nice cardboard packaging like the 2011 release but I think it looks good. It was only 19,95 euros. It came really early because the release date in next Monday.

It does look much better than the original boxed set. I want it but so far i'm holding off on the off chance this may go on sale for Black Friday. Then again, i've never seen the original go for much less than what Best Buy has it listed for right now. Decisions, decisions....

Case is cool, but I see no reason to rebuy these movies again until they actually release the untouched versions.

I have the region B Australian equivalent of that trilogy set, mine included a slipcover.

It's complete in my eyes so what you're saying is so disrespectful....

More on-topic, I really like the new complete saga case. I was never a fan of the original design. I mean, I get it... but when I think "Star Wars" I don't think "Little Kid Anakin". It's too bad they don't make just the cases available for people who already have the old set, I wouldn't mind dropping $10 on that.

If I could sell the old set and buy the new for the same price, I'd do it. I like the new packaging so much better. But I'm not dropping any more money on the crap versions. Going forward, the only thing that will get me to open my wallet again for the old movies is the original theatrical versions.

I agree. I love this cover art more but I'm not paying $90 for exact same discs and extras. If the original untouched editions of Episode 4-6 were on it then I'd do it.

Why the hell are they re-releasing it on BD already? I haven't even opened my copy of the initial release yet, and I remember it looking good.

I guess they should have contacted you before they decided to release it again.
