Being as those were all about as low resolution as you can get (only 272 scan lines), I don't think that scene would look "upscaled" compared to anything else on those sources.

Well, given how low the resolution of those versions are I don't think you'd be able to tell if it was like that!

But it's not a 'poor film stock' problem or anything like that (as is now definitively proved by that gorgeous looking print!), it's simply an error on the Lowry remaster.

Dang, that looks good for a fan scan. Did they do the whole film?

Got my despecialized editions to watch leading up to Friday night as well. And I'm toasting George Lucas for creating this whole thing to begin with.

The whole film does not look like that, no. However, it's a full reel of the film that does. It's essentially from the Shuttle Tyderium sequence to the beginning of Endor - about 10 minutes.

However, it shows how little care was put into this project overall and how much work CAN and SHOULD be done.

I'm sure you can on some darker corner of the internet, but you would just be putting money into some crook's hands.

It's an Amaray case inside of a slipbox.

Can someone tell me which dvd release of the original Star Wars trilogy has deleted scenes on it? I read that there's deleted scenes on some dvd releases that didn't make it to the Blu-ray release.

Yeah I watched this version of ESB the other night and damn does it look good. Very clear, deep blacks and beautiful colors. Frankly if it never comes out on bluray I won't be too upset, these are light years beyond my old laserdisc editions.

Most movies seem to come out on home video a little over or under 5 months after theatrical release. This of course excludes rogue cuts and extended editions of films having to do with rings and midgets.

HARMY FTW!!
That's damning. Whoever thought it was a good idea to reuse a decade old HD master and put it on Blu Ray was a fool!

That's just that weird upscaled bit, I may have my own issues with the Lowry remasters but that shot is NOT indicative of the entire disc.

I wonder what the eventual new box set will look like once the new film arrives on blu-ray. I'll be tempted to sell mine off for it if it has any additional content for the previous films but other than that I'd just get the single release of the new film.

Well, unless Disney buys out Fox's theatrical and home video distribution rights to the existing films (along with Fox's full indefinite distribution rights to the original film), I probably wouldn't expect a new box set yet.

As far as I remember only the prequel DVDs had deleted scenes. The BDs have the ones from the original trilogy.
