my advice if your missing a movie in digibook just buy 1 of the steelbooks ditch 2nd copy star wars a new hope bluray and put the missing movie in digibook
yeah, it's missing return of the jedi. I'll either get the steelbook version to replace it, or just look for a cheap "disc only' version on ebay.

OTOH it would be kind of nice to see a truly complete SW set that included the original 6 films plus all of The Clone Wars...

Ever notice how the most insulting people seem to take the most offense at disagreements?

I'm kinda wondering if when they have conversations with friends and family in real life they interrupt their thoughts with air quotes and clever memes and then wink like an emoticon after they've made a point.

Altered effects? Please explain.

The despecialized editions are clearly not "fan films." Harmy is simply trying to restore the movies to their original forms, by combining footage from various official sources.

Oh and the color correction for SW despecialized was based off of scans from a pristine, 1977 technicolor print. It's not perfect of course, because the blu-ray colors are so screwed up that it's nearly impossible to match the colors, but it's a huge improvement and much closer to how it looked in 1977.
For ESB and ROTJ, he also used 35mm film prints and other sources as color references, with the sole intent of preserving the original look of the movies.

I've actually never seen one film in the Star Wars series yet. I would like to sit down and watch them some day, but part of the reason I haven't purchased the Blu-ray set is due to all the backlash surrounding Lucas's revisionism. I applaud this "despecialized" edition.

If you're new to the series, I doubt the "special edition changes" will ruin the viewing experience for you. Some people grew up with the original unaltered versions and are pissed at Lucas for not making them available (understandably so.) But I say give the 2011 editions a shot.

Worse comes to worse you can go with the 2006 DVDs with both versions. The originals are sadly non-anamorphic but its better than nothing. If you can get Harmy's DeSpecialized version you cant go wrong!

They should repackage it as Star Wars: The Nearly Complete Saga.

Yeah, I'd personally recommend watching the original trilogy via the despecialized editions.

Then, watch the Blu-Ray versions as Episodes I-VI (or machete order if you wanna get fancy) and see what you think.

"Star Wars The Saga That Consists Of Three Terrible Films And Three Classics That Were Later Ruined" would have been too long to fit on the box.

And also kind of pretends there's nothing wrong with ROTJ. ( Which has always been doubleplusgood, right? )

I'd really be satisfied with a RotJ cut that just included the rescue of Han and Jabba's place, sans changes, then have Luke dart off to confront Vader and Emperor, and have the Rebel fleet and Imperial fleet engagement, and delete all references to Endor and Death Star II. Superimpose Endor over all shots of the Death Star and just pretend like the shield generator is actually a huge laser cannon, and it's the Emperor's secret base, that would have made the GOUT RotJ world's better... maybe it was just pre-transition adjustment of expectations for the eventual prequel trilogy.

Watch the De-specialized Editions of the Original Trilogy. Skip the crappy prequels and Special Editions and hopefully the new Star Wars 7 doesn't suck under JJ Abrams' direction and you can then continue the saga after Return of the Jedi.

Even the makers of The Force Awakens and the next sequels and spin-offs (the co-writer of this newest film penned the beloved adventure classics Empire Strikes Back and Raiders of the Lost Ark: Lawrence Kasdan) hate the prequels with a passion (as do I), so they won't really be brought up except in terms of the Original Trilogy story line. Save yourself the heartache of watching George Lucas go off the deep end.

I always thought the issue with Jedi was indeed the middle third of the movie. This was the first sign of Lucas changing into what he became IMO.

so I've never seen any of the Star Wars movies, but I'd like to see them before watching Force Awakens.

Would anyone recommending buying the Complete Saga over the separate trilogies? Since it's a $30 difference, and the possibility of it releasing at some point with digital copies, I'm leaning more towards the trilogies, but I'm not sure how much I would be missing out on by not buying the Complete Saga
