I fortunately still have all my Star Wars VHS' and DVDs. I keep em all mostly for nostalgic reasons but some I still watch. Defintely glad to still have my '06 DVDs, even if the transfers are crap. Also glad to still have my first trilogy VHS set I got from my grandmother when I was I guess 4. I dont know. I just never see the reason to part ways with a past release because 9/10 times theres something different with each one that you appreciate them more. Granted i dont own the BluRays of SW and frankly that doesnt bother me. I wouldnt mind the SE's so much if the originals accompanied them but alas they dont. My only regret is not having the new bonus features thats in the BluRay set, new meaning theyre not on the DVDs.

I thankfully have held onto every iteration of Star Wars I've ever owned on home video, including the Limited Edition DVDs.
The quality may be extremely sub par, but I found it amazing how much I enjoyed watching them a couple weeks ago before seeing The Force Awakens. It's funny, because I was never the kind of fan who would complain all that much about Lucas' tinkering. But after the changes made the BDs, it was kind of like the straw that broke the camel's back - you know? On a side note, just last night I ended up uploading (and listening to) my 1993 Anthology Soundtrack set to iTunes. Aside from it just being wonderful to listen to, I love the packaging and design of that set. It's so wonderfully old school Star Wars (i.e. "The Star Wars Trilogy"). ![]() (Not my image) ![]() Last edited by Aragorn the Elfstone; 12-31-2015 at 05:28 PM. |

Finally saw Episode VII after a couple weeks of avoiding spoilers. It was miserable. To me, it's the best Star Wars film yet since the original. It was brilliant and every single decision made was the right one. I was worried definitely that Abrams' choices would edge toward the new Star Trek but it was in every way a completely different universe!

Yes, in this modern age, I dare to store my music on an iPod. Such a sinner am I.
![]() Though I'm not against blasting the CDs throughout the entire house, I hardly think the other slumbering members of my household would have appreciated it. |

You're working under the assumption that because this first new film has made so much money that Disney doesn't care at all about the quality or originality. While the most senior execs may only care about money and proving the investment was worth it, I would find it hard to believe that the people who actually create the film aren't trying to make the best film they can. Having said that, let's remember what this is: It's Star Wars and that in itself is a limiting factor because every film has to be about a war in space. And if the next two films are films about members of the Skywalker/Solo clan plus any new characters from this film, that's also going to be automatically derivative. But it's not the overall plot that made the original Star Wars interesting, it was the details of the worlds that Lucas created along with the energy of the originals. But let's say they did try to be original and a future Star Wars film was about completely different people in a completely different galaxy. How do you think that would go over? I think it would fail no matter how original it was. In fact it would fail because it was original. |

There isn't any. Currently you have to buy the digital hd versions separately.

Not likely, due to the complex distribution rights situation the pre-Disney Star Wars films are in. Hence the Fox rerelease of the saga and the individual Steelbooks releases this year didn't include digital copies. IV - Owned by Lucasfilm. Full distribution rights (including digital) belong to Fox indefinitely. I - III and V - VI - Owned by Lucasfilm, along with digital and TV rights. Fox has theatrical and home entertainment rights till 2020. |
