He's been futzing with them for thirty years, why do you assume he's going to stop now?

Personally, I'm worried "puppet Yoda" in Empire and Jedi is going to be one of those things left for the three bonus discs. Lucas hinted a few years ago that he fixed most of what he wanted in the original Star Wars, but that there was plenty of work left for Empire and Jedi. I wouldn't be surprised in the least to see all of Jabba's palace creatures "updated", and won't be surprised to see the Oz puppet of Yoda updated as well.

That would really make this set great i really hope there will be new interviews about the saga from all the b ig players. Hope we hear some news about it. I mean its definitely time to get harrison ford and hayden and natalie to talk about this phenomenon again

He's already said he'd leave the OT Yoda alone.

It's the Phantom Menace puppet that they want replaced, especially since it looks almost nothing like the OT version! The CG Yoda for Episodes II and III were modeled on the puppet's performance in The Empire Strikes Back.

I'm wondering if we'll get some of the "extras" ported over from the DVD Trilogy (OT) set, and/or some Newer features/interviews, or whatnot.

Just looking at my Original Trilogy DVD set now, Episodes IV-VI All have the same "Special Features":
Commentary by Lucas, Ben Burtt, Dennis Muren, & Carrie Fisher
DVD-ROM Weblink to "exclusive Star Wars" content
Anamorphic Widescreen (AR 2.35:1)
Sound: DD 5.1 Surround EX (& a few other 2.0 surround options)

A Fourth Disc of BONUS MATERIAL features the following:
The Birth of the Lightsaber
The Characters of Star Wars
The Force is with Them: The Legacy of Star Wars
Star Wars: Episode III Behind the Scenes Preview - The Return of Darth Vader
Star Wars Battlefront Trailer (Video game)
Star Wars Battefront Xbox Game Demo (Video Game)
Star Wars: Episode III - Making the Game (Video Game)
Trailers & TV Spots
Never Before Seen Production Photo Gallery
Posters & Print Campaign
Exclusive DVD-ROM Content
Empire of Dreams: The Story of the Star Wars Trilogy.

Lol - Wonder how much this would pull on Ebay...

No. The prequel trilogy were the only ones natively in 5.1, and even then he had Skywalker/THX and Dolby Labs come up with EX for Episode I.

The OT was remixed for EX on the home video versions and you can be sure it will be 7.1 for Blu-ray. I'm hoping it's TrueHD myself. Even if FOX insists upon DTS-MA, there's plenty of discs out there with both formats, witness Close Encounters of the Third Kind, which had both formats at the behest of Steven Spielberg.

I don't think he'll change Yoda in ESB or ROTJ. In the prequels a CGI Yoda was more necessary because he needed to do more (like fight light-saber battles). In Jedi, all he had to do was walk over to his bed, lay there and say a few things before dying. In Empire, he just needed to walk around a bit or talk.

I hope there isn't one single thing left behind for the extras. With the extras from all the VHS and DVD releases thats already quite a bit, and hopefully some TV specials will be thrown in as well.

They already replaced the puppet in TPM, years ago...they just haven't released that version yet. Footage was seen on the Episode II DVD. As for Lucas saying that he's going to leave puppet Yoda alone in Empire and Jedi...well, we'll see, won't we?

Didn't George Lucas say one time that the old Star Wars Blu-rays will be based off the 2004 release?

I don't get the new poll, the bottom 2 haven't been announced right? You should just make a "other" option.

The "will/would" part kind of saves it.

Episodes IV-VI were originally presented in 35mm Dolby Optical (LCR mono surround) and in 70mm 6-track Dolby Baby Boom magnetic (L Le C Re R mono surround -- Le and Re were low frequency effects channels). So if you really want to see them as originally presented, you'd want a 4.1 soundtrack.

Sweet:3 fox did that with the first two Alien films:3 I loved the fact that i could hear the film the way it was in theaters. I now have to lessen to the DTS-MA tracks:3

If fox does it for Star Wars I'll be really really happy:3

I'd kinda rather see what people will buy instead of a fantasy poll though.

Watched A New Hope tonight, something I forgot about that I'd like to see fixed for continuity's sake...when Obi-wan slices the guy's arm in the bar. It's all bloody, when we have since come to learn that that wouldn't be the case with a lightsaber. Let's ditch that blood Lucas.

But that's what earned Star Wars a PG rating. The bloody arm was an insert added to the film after it received a preliminary G rating by the MPAA. The studio thought a G rating would be disastrous, so...voila. One shot of a bloody severed arm added to the film. Tony Scott's Top Gun also received a G rating, and so Tom Cruise and Kelly McGillis were asked back to add a sex scene. Meanwhile, ADR looped in several instances of off-screen profanity. Top Gun earned its PG.

They may have felt it was needed then, but it clearly isn't needed now, so I'd prefer it be removed (the blood, the shot of the arm needs to stay so you know what the heck just happened) because a lightsaber wouldn't do that.

Will it drive me crazy if it isn't changed? Nope. But it'd be nice if it were corrected now.

Really? So the charred skeletons of Beru and Owen had no impact on the rating. Sorry, I don't buy that story. Do you have a link to back up the claim?

Nothing can be "sure it'll be in 7.1" until we see something definitive in print somewhere. Until then, all we can do is Hope it'll be 7.1 or something better than the normal 5.1 Dts-HD MA or True-HD.
