He was building.
He was gaining control.
The Peace accords from The Great War are responsible for Hitler's rise to power and eventually, from that, World War II ensued.
The Great War did not cause World War 2, the after effects did.
There is a difference.

That movie is so terrible with how time was presented...
I always thought there was an implied long passage of time on the Falcon, like maybe a week or two. "It's pretty far but I think we can make it." Since they had no light speed the trip would have taken longer, but are they really going to show two weeks worth of travelling? Also this would account how Boba Fett predicted their destination. They probably would have been going in a straight line, so he would check their trajectory, boom! Bespin! Hyperspace ahead and send a comm message to Vader. The empire had plenty of time to get there and "make a deal."

Saaayyy... Did you know that The Empire Strikes Back got some negative reviews upon its original release for being too derivative?

No, both did. The loss of WWI and all of the reparations that the Allies forced Germany to pay for are what caused WWII, period. Those two reasons are why Hitler wanted to take control of Germany.

Anyway, back on topic.

Preach it, brother! Geoff is good people, though...I think after Episode VIII a whole lot of people are gonna go scrambling back to their discs for The Force Awakens to rewatch certain scenes. Just a guess.

Is anyone else just watching 1-3 before Rogue One and plan on finishing 4-7 after. Sure Rogue One will probably have Easter eggs to ANH but I've seen it so many times I think I'll be fine just watching in chronological order.

Everything I've seen that is even remotely tied to the Star Wars brand, I have found to be enjoyable.
I'm not belittling anyone. I'm saying what I like. If you find my liking something offensive, that's a YOU problem.
I'm not offended that you like it, I'd love to like them too. It just sounds a little passive-aggressive when you say that people can find fault in anything if they look hard enough. Like, other people should just shut up and shut off and they could enjoy them like you do.

Sorry, I just don't think I have to look hard at all to hate those films. I saw them all twice in the theater (TPM thrice) to see what I was missing, to try and embrace them. There's scenes I like but between all 3 movies, there's maybe 1 movie worth of material I enjoy. Eh, different strokes.

OTOH, I saw TFA three times and wish I could have seen it three more in the theater. Envy me, Geoff D.

Let me just say this: The Force Awakens is not a remake. It's a sequel. To remake a film is to take a pre-existing film and basically update it. To mirror and parallel a film is to pay tribute, while making it feel old and new at the same time. Parallels are not a remake, nor is mirroring, and I feel like that's something that people are misunderstanding here.

People know it's not literally a remake and that it's obviously a sequel. They call it a remake to express their opinion that it rehashes the ANH plot to a noticeable degree.

Star Wars has always had rehashed elements.

I can prove once and for all that Mr. Plinkett's review of The Phantom Menace is complete and utter bull.

My point is that some folks see the good and focus on that. Not the bad.
Yep, different strokes.

Yup. Just watched Revenge of the Sith last night, seeing Rogue One tonight, and then I'll be watching the rest in the upcoming days.

I dunno about all that but I might watch Sith tonight and then New Hope Despecialized when I get back from seeing Rogue One tomorrow. It's actually been a while since I've seen any of the OT or PT movies, as I got so annoyed with the Blu-ray changes that I sold my set a while ago.

I've always liked the movie but I watched it again recently and thought it was an absolute belter. Cracking action flick.
