Eh, I've seen the movie enough times to know the audio off by heart. I even do the TIE Fighter noises and everything.

When he really wants that authentic experience, he calls me up and I do the Chewbacca sounds over speakerphone.

Well, we also have the US Copyright Office.

Which is nice.

Whispering the word, "Whopper!" works for Darth Vader.

People work for a living...and have opinions different from you. Funny, huh?

It's like the election. Whatever candidate you voted for (D) or (R), roughly half the country did not vote for the one you chose and you can't understand why.
The "outrage" on the internet about the SE changes is similar. There are people like the changes, but the truth is a lot of people don't don't care one way or the other. Except the people who hate the changes are a hell of a lot louder about it, and tend to shout down the people who do like the changes. Witness this thread for proof of that.

Has anyone noticed that The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi do not upmix to DTS nureal X? Episodes 1-4 and 7 work. Has anyone tried thes two specific movies? Ive tried different bluray players and have it set to bitstream, all other movies work

Many processors won't upmix 6.1 native or 7.1 - in any case I use Dolby Surround.

[Show spoiler]
Hehe, verr gud.

The thing I like about the regular version of the book is that it's not aimed at the kiddies (which is what the Lego version is for) e.g. it says that Jabba's demise was intended as an homage to Luca Brasi's grisly murder in The Godfather. What also surprised me is that it openly references the various changes done to the movie over the years, even distinguishing the different versions e.g. "this was done for the 1997 special edition/2004 DVD/2011 Blu-ray" whereas I'd have thought it'd toe the party line and pretend that this was the maker's vision all along. It also references the digital Yoda alteration in Ep I.

It also confirms a few things that have been discussed about the SW movies in general, that part of the prequels' intent was to show that the Jedi had become set in their ways. And the biggie for me is that it confirms what I and others have been saying for a while, that Anakin's balancing of the Force was about ending BOTH major factions of Force users: "The man who helped destroy the Jedi Order also ended the Sith, bringing balance to the Force as prophesied long ago". Nice!

I also recall see the first movie in one of the theater returns...I think it was after Empire was released so maybe around 1981 or 1982 or leading up to Jedi?

I have a question for both of you since you had seen Jedi opening day.

Do you guys recall the scene where the rebels are amassing their assault on the Death Star; the rebels find out (last minute) the shield is still active? We know in the final cut, all of the ships managed to avoid impact. But I distinctly remember in the cut I had scene; a ship or two collided with the shield.

In one of the Star Wars podcasts I occasionally listen to, one of the hosts corroborates this *edit* as well. I guess it's also included in the movie audio novelization.

It wasn't till it was released on video ('86?) and upon many viewings, something was different.

No offence but it was 1983. Not sure how any memory from over 30 years ago can be "solid".

Even when I watch a movie I saw a couple years ago I remember a certain scene a certain way but when I watch it again I see that it was different than how I remember.

In the novel, some ships hit the shield. I also think they do in the comic's, but not 100% positive.

The ships shown hitting the shield was definitely storyboarded but not included in the final cut of the film. Still, I wasn't there at the time, but over the years people have also said they saw the head in the box in Se7en, Luke swinging and missing in the Death Star chasm etc etc. Hell, I still think I saw the 'grabbing the leaf' shot in Jurassic Park, but I'm happy to go with the 'I saw it in the trailer and my mind made shit up' theory.

I saw Jedi 3 times opening day. The scene you refer to did have a ship hitting the shield. There was also the scene of Luke and Leia swinging to the skiff and showing her backside briefly. Of course, none of these made it to the VHS version. And of course Lucasfilm will deny it just like they denied having shown the Biggs Darklighter sequence when Star Wars first aired on CBS.
