Yeah. what I read I tihnk was that they didn't catch it until Post-Production and he (McGregor) actually did it during some of the fights in the movie and they had to mute it.

I think it's cool that Ewan McGregor was so geeked out about these, wish he could've done more than 3. Never got the big deal about Carriee Fisher though, even back then there were hotter women.

That's exactly right. I heard an interview with Spielberg who said that if he had it to do all over again, he never would have had Richard Dreyfus' character leave his family at the end of Close Encounters. He said he made the film before he had kids of his own and once he had kids, he felt completely differently about that kind of situation.

Not that that's an excuse to change the film, but when Star Wars was released, Lucas though it was going to be a failure. That's why he was in Hawaii with Spielberg on release day. Even though he had planned out a 9 story epic, he never thought he'd be making another Star Wars film. So the fact that Han was a bit of an unethical character didn't make a difference until he knew there were going to be more Star Wars films. But having said that, I don't think Lucas intended to change Han shooting first. I think they wanted to fix the special effects and in doing so, screwed up the editing and the scene. (But I could be wrong.)

Well it all sounds good, but it obviously isn't an editing screw up when another laser beam is inserted and Han unnaturally moves to the left. Good point about having kids, but that should only work in the Dreyfuss/ Spielberg situation Not with Ford and Lucas. Han didn't have kids, he WAS a scoundrel and ex Stormtrooper, Smuggler, Mercenary. Thats why fans are angry about that.

Only clues we have is what Mark Hammil has basically said Lucas told him around the end of Jedi.

That it would have taken place 30 years or so after the end of Return of the Jedi... and filmed roughly around then.

And that Luke would return as the older and wiser Obi-Wan mentor type character to a new Jedi Order.

And that the only other returning characters would be C-3PO and R2-D2. Since it's supposed to be through their eyes.

His perspective is that Grown-ups can't have fun or be intouch with "their inner child" which I guess his for his generation would be absurd but today it isn't. Even still, the kid was 12.

The concept of the summer film and tent pole films are relatively new in the world of cinema (started in the 70s with either Jaws or The Godfather, take your pick). So, seeing the fantantism that films like Star Wars (and tv series like Star Trek) would be something VERY strange to an actor from the pre-Blockbuster Era. (there are to this day, no Casablanca or Gone With The Wind conventions that I am aware of). So, the level of marketing, toys, and overall enthusiasm for the films might be 'disturbing' for an actor whom had his hey-day long ago.

We see his comments as "WHAT!?!?!" because this IS the norm for us as culture and mass marketing has made it that way. But ask your Grandfather about it and you'll get the same response that Mr. Guiness did. I remember my Grandfather telling me much the same thing when I was kid. LOL. "Stop wasting time watching that crap again and pick up a book..."

Exactly, although there is nothing wrong with books

With people in the 40's with kids (or Roger Ebert) they are like that towards video games even though sometimes a video game can be a great piece of art like a movie or a book.

I heart books,

Ebert has a different perspective on video games and you are right that it is mostly a generational thing. Games like Hard Rain and Mass Effect, are imo, art.
