You seem to be confused. Box office does not equal quality. And the general consensus amongst fans, both causal and fervent, is that Empire is the best of the OT (not to mention overall) in terms of quality. Just because you don't agree doesn't make it any less of a fact.

You have to realize that Star Wars is - by virtually every account - a mishmash of a bunch of existing ideas, paying homage to (or ripping off, depending on who you ask) The Hidden Fortress and the Flash Gordon serials, and using the standard "Hero's Journey" as its foundation. In that regard, Empire is far more original than Star Wars.

The thing is, you and I both know I'm wasting my time here, genesim. Your arguments are long on emotion, but short on facts, reason, and logic. It's only a matter of time before this account suffers the same fate as your last one...

Kylo Ren wasn't remotely emo. He had a temper problem and was prone to flying off the hook, but he wasn't emo. He is clearly an unstable man and the temper tantrums are a great demonstration of that. The dude is no way in control of his emotions.

The Empire Strikes Back actually had its fair share of detractors on initial release in 1980.

I wouldn't say that George Lucas ruined cinema with digital video and CGI. The thing is, George Lucas is the one who revolutionized the movie theater experience.

If anything, George Lucas is the one responsible for these leaps in cinema technology and special effects. Star Wars paved the way for Star Trek to return (to the movie theaters), Battlestar Galactica, Buck Rogers, Flash Gordon and many other sci-fi shows that hit movie theaters and television networks.

I think fans get over-dramatic when they start hating on George Lucas. Even though the prequel films get trashed on a lot, they did generate one billion dollars for The Phantom Menace and one billion for Revenge of the Sith, while generating $650 million for Attack of the Clones.

If anything, George Lucas proved that it doesn't matter how much "fans" hate his movies, they still flocked in droves to see a new Star Wars movie. George Lucas should have simply kept making new Star Wars movies and just stuck it to the fans. Personally, I think that George Lucas rage-quitting was the biggest mistake he made.

The issue regarding the prequels and the special edition films has simply been over-dramatic and made a bigger issue than it actually is.

I strongly believe that is Lucas made a digital Tarkin and Leia like Rogue One did.... the Internet would have bashed him for it.

The prequels are actually very strong story telling. There is a lot of depth to them. The rise of the Sith and the failure of the Jedi is woven perfectly. Episode 7 felt hollow compared to the prequels.

I don't think it's fair to compare the first part of a new trilogy to a completed trilogy.

Are you going to do this every time I post something you don't like?

Your bullying behavior is no excuse and apparently I am not the first person you have done this to looking back through your posts.

Star Wars is the better film in a hundred different ways, but alas it is all just opinion. Apparently you want to keep me from having mine.

I do find your "general consensus" logic quite flawed. Again, apparently the fans that continue to flock to the film in great numbers has no bearing on your mindset.

p.s. I stated I was genesim why repeat it again? Do you think you are clever?

I agree. Compare it to one film...Star Wars, which there is no comparison.

I like Ep. VII, but it is pretty hollow to me.

I could compared Episode 7 to each of the prequel movies individually... and it still feels hollow. The depth of the prequels is highly underrated.

I agree with this. I think there is great story telling there. Obviously the prequels are CGI crazy, and that is a bit of a flaw with me.

But at least the stories felt original.

I like Episode VII and I welcome more stories, but part of me can't help feeling sad that Lucas isn't involved.

CGI doesn't bother me unless it is The Scorpion King bad.

I would go a step further and say Episode 7 is junk. It ignores the ending of 6, which is both a travesty and bad story telling.

Rogue One was a step in the right direction. It had issues, but is did a much better job staying faithful to canon established in 3 and 4.

Hopefully Episode 8 continues on that trend. And I probably won't even see the Han Solo movie. Nobody can replace Harrison Ford. Mark my words... it will be a bust.

Why is the Empire still in power?

I love TFA, but that is a major oversight in the story.

Were the Ewoks singing and dancing for nothing at the end of Jedi?!

This is nothing new. The main heroes also had to deal with other Empire-level threats in tons of Expanded Universe stories like the Thrawn and Dark Empire Trilogies.

1. Burnt helmet not burnt.
2. Lost lightsaber randomly found.
3. Luke at peace and then a hermit.
4. Han and Leia happy and then separatedo
5. The Empire destroyed... yet is back just under different name.

And there is proof it was ignored. The writer of Episode 7 (Kasdan) was at odds with Lucas at the end of Episode 6 about how it should end. Lucas obviously won out. And yet Kasdan's original idea for the episode 6 ending is basically what he wrote for Episode 7. Luke on his own. Leia acting as a leader. And Han dead.

Episode 6 to 7 is the worst transition from any movie in chronological order. It is absolutely jarring if you watch them in order.

They are the same. Just a different name. Disney went back to the same exact well. You would have to be more blind then the Jedi from Rebels not to see that.
