I haven't got the OT/PT Blus, but I haven't downloaded any illegal copies either. I'm still holding on to the old THX VHS boxset, although I don't think I've watched it in probably 7 or 8 years. When I'm in an OT kind of mood, I put on the scores. Williams' score is so brilliant, I can visualize the films in my head as I listen to it.

Judy Hopps is a bad ass and she dances just like my wife at weddings.

And if I want to watch the original versions, I can pop in the bonus discs or watch the despecialized/Silver Screen editions.
I have the DVDs too.

If I'm gonna watch on my big screen I'd rather not watch an upscaled DVD and just watch the blu's.

[Show spoiler]
It was so laughable because there was no point in wearing the mask in the first place, since he didn't need it as Darth Vader did.
No SW Sith had ever worn a mask just to look cool or intimidating.
And underneath was this whiny little emo kid. What a joke.
He cowardly kills his own father and loses to everyone he fights with.
A mighty villain indeed.

Adam Driver wasn't an unknown actor before The Force Awakens, of course. It's just that people may have imagined that Kylo Ren was hiding something under his helmet.

Turned out, he was just hiding his untarnished face.

Turned out, he was so obsessed with his grandfather, he chose to wear a helmet similar to Vader's, not for any practical reasons. Just to be more like grandpa.

He chose to ignore the fact that Vader redeemed himself in the end, and turned his back on the dark side.

Mentioned this in the Star Wars thread in the Movies section.

It is super annoying to me.

He was trained by Luke, whose best friends are family.

Somewhere along the line there was some major miscommunication.

Hey Son/Nephew, you know uh your Grandpa did a lot of bad stuff when he got seduced to the darkside. But uh he redeemed himself and he and I/Luke literally overthrew the Emperor and saved the galaxy. If it weren't for him I/your other parent + Luke would not be alive to tell you this.

So yeah, there was just some bad communication to Kylo about this whole thing.

I just can't help but be annoyed that the son of Leia, who's heart is pure and moral, would worship his Grandpa assuming his mom or his Uncle Luke told him about that heroic thing at the end of his life.

Besides, Kylo's character to me is already unredeemable. He better be worse and get killed so I don't have to care about him. Between slaughtering that village, his teenage temper tantrums destroying equipment, and everything else I don't care about him and wish Rey would have finished the job.

All this talk about the original theatrical SW movies made me want to watch my Best Buy tin box with those on dvd Last time I saw the OT was probably in the late 80's and 90's on VHS and cable.

Maybe he's not ultimately a villain, brainiac. I'd be more worried about Rey right now than Kylo. Then the two team up to kick ass against Snoke.

Also, he wore the mask because it was part of the uniform. All of the Knights of Ren have one.

Actually, he's not a teenager. He's 29.

I don't care how big of a Star Wars fan you are, refusing to buy the blus now because of a few minutes worth of changes is laughable.

But if Episode IX ends with Kylo Ren tossing Snoke down a reactor shaft shortly after getting his hand chopped off, everything will be a-okay, amirite?

Same here. I don't see how he can be redeemed. He's got a temper for the ages and he murders his father in cold blood. I can't imagine how he would get where is after having people like Leia and Han for parents and Uncle Luke.

Is he possessed by Palpatine or something?

Not just his father but arguably Top 5 fan favorite character in the franchises history.

Ford provided arguably Hans best performance and Kylo wasted it.

It's not wise to always judge a character by his appearance.

Because what appears of his wisdom always judges his character.

It's definitely a dark twist to have the heroes give birth to a villain (or potentially a villain-turned-hero in a later episode, which would make it rhyme a little too closely with Anakin's journey). We somehow accepted Anakin's redemption story, even after all the bad deeds he'd done (murder, murder, etc), but that's possibly because he was voiced by the great James Earl Jones and we believed that he could patch things up with his son (whose hand was cut off by his father).

It'll be kinda hard for Kylo to make things up to his mom and mentor. We don't really know the whole story yet, though, so we'll just have to see how this all plays out.

For all we know, he's determined to destroy the Sith once and for all, and he sees all these bad deeds as a means to an end. That would be pretty hard to swallow, but I'm just saying we don't know exactly what happens next for him, so we haven't seen the whole picture.
