Just stumbled on this 1997 interview with Lucas, after the first SE's came out. Interesting how he mentions there's still more he wants to changed yet said there's 'no plans' to change them again. He also mentioned revised versions of the Indiana Jones films which fortunately we never got!! Oh George.

Not that I am saying anyone is a chimp, but to compare this example to what Lucas went through is totally absurd.

The OT religion will find a fight even if there isn't one.
I think you're the one looking for a fight. All I'm doing is talking about how I like the unaltered trilogy more than the altered trilogy. You seem to focus more on people who talk about the movies than the movies themselves.

What about your "artistic vision" comment above? Gee who was that aimed at? You use some completely unrelated example and pin that on me (or those that support the changes or think like me or Lucas for that matter)as the strawman of all strawman.

As for going after specific people where would that be? While I was criticized for a long post, make no mistake I was commenting on the nuiances of the films and the actual parts that I think hold up to this day.

Of course again, you would rather just say something that isn't true and take it to a personal level. The facts don't play it out, but that doesn't matter.

I have no problem with you liking the unaltered trilogy, it is when we go to your Coppola extreme that doesn't make any sense where most with any brains would call foul.

It is the OT religion and like the yucks on here just making fun of people that don't hold the belief, it isn't about discussion. It is like the mobs in recent events. Crack the heads of all that don't believe!

You speak of civility and "civilized discussion," but have you read some of the things you've said to and about the people in this thread? You're certainly no victim - you're an aggressor who's taken many shots at many people.

No hate at all from my side. I came here to learn, but getting civilized discussion is like pulling teeth. You can blame me, but when I stop posting there is still fighting. A real shame because "long post" or not, we all could learn from each other.

Funny how I was able to find plenty of examples before I'd gone back even a full week. Point being, you don't hold any sort of moral high ground here, regardless of what you might think.

Thanks for the link! That was definitely an interesting read, and it was interesting to go back to the time when we were still a couple of years away from a new Star Wars movie, wondering what it was going to be like. Interesting that it looked like Tarkin was going to be a prominent character originally, as Lucas describes him as an early supporter of Palpatine.

It's also interesting to hear now about Lucas' future plans that never worked out-- I still would have been interested in seeing Lucas make other films that had nothing to do with Star Wars or old serials (even Red Tails was made with that same philosophy). I get the impression that at that time, the Prequel trilogy was going to be Lucas' big comeback in filmmaking, and just the start of his new wave a movies using "cutting-edge effects" as he describes it.

I fail to see (other than you) where I have went after anyone personally in your feeble attempt .

Hmm try again. Now shall we pull up your posts against others? You are such a follower. I put up a list.. so do you...Simon says?

But alas, let us get back to topic. Ill try harder. I am not above seeing a need to improve.

Xxx

To me Lucas Special Edition was like Mortal Konbat 4 3D. Innovation with new tech, but because the first in with that kind of detail, is also the ones most likely to get the harshest criticism.

Just goes to show that these new films don't really count, they don't understand the naming scheme

Attacking people who disagree with you as a group is no different than 'going after' individuals. People like to pretend they're somehow taking the high road if they don't name names while mocking or dismissing people but they're not.

If you want to dismiss the people who disagree with you as close-minded zealots motivated by nostalgia and hate that's fine.

But please own it.

I wouldn't really call The Force Awakens a meaningless title.

I'm more puzzled by the abandonment of the number convention, than I am the meaning of the title. What I mean is the following:

A New Hope = 3 words
The Empire Strikes Back = 4 words
Return of the Jedi = 4 words
---------------------------------
The Phantom Menace = 3 words
Attack of the Clones = 4 words
Revenge of the Jedi = 4 words
---------------------------------
The Force Awakens = 3 words
The Last Jedi = 3 word
???

Also why do you say they don't count? Of course they count (and they are better than the prequels)

You know the forum has hit a new low when the argument stoops to the number of words in a Star Wars title.

What? How are "Return of the Jedi" and "Revenge of the Sith" a person and not a situation/action?
