CGI overload let the PT down for me, otherwise I think it's ok. The best thing to come out of that era for me was The Clone Wars TV show. Matt Lanter was a far superior Anakin.

Exactly! While we're at it I will see your Neeson/Jackson/Portman and raise you:

Kiera Knightly, Dominic West, Rose Byrne & Joel Edgerton.

Edit: That's just off the top of my head and doesn't account for any crew that might have used the PT's as a spring board to a good career.

I know West was supposed to be a guard in TPM, but I'll be damned if I can spot him in the film. Never mind, he's the one that let's Anakin in to see Padme.

I watched The Phantom Menace yesterday.
For being my favourite of the bunch... I think I've seen it way too many times.
I couldn't concentrate on it at all. I think I overplayed it...

Hey, we all get there eventually, Ranger.

Me, I paid to see that damned movie 19 times theatrically. And I hadn't even discovered weed yet.

I paid for it three times theatrically. At the time I thought it was a fantastic film because I was 17. The only other time I have done that was in 1997 for Starship Troopers.

I remember that TPM was the last Star Wars VHS I bought. I remember it being $20 at Wal-Mart in 1999.

Of the three Prequels the Phantom Menace is the only one I find tolerable. I also thought Jake Lloyd did a good job of playing Anakin, don't get the hate. He acted like a kid his age would act. It also is unfortunate that so many people have given him shit over the years because of the movie. I dislike Hayden Christensen's performance of Anakin with a fiery passion but I don't harass him on social media or wouldn't give him a hard time if I met him. Complaining about something you don't like about a film online and being a dick towards the people involved are two different things.

Why would anyone give Jake Lloyd hate? I don't understand that. Are these people fans or haters of the PT? If they are fans, do they think he ruined The Phantom Menace and if he acted better then the movie would be a masterpiece or something?

If they are haters, why don't they just criticize the movie itself and leave child actors out of it?

Out of the prequels, Phantom Menace is the only I like. I like it a lot, actually. Attack of the Clones is miserable to sit through and easily the worst film in the series by a mile. Sith was average but not something I'd ever sit through again. I hate to be that guy but the only Star Wars films that matter were made from 1977-1983. It's like the special editions and the prequel trilogy never happened Thank the lord for Harmy making the theatrical versions of the OT available in HD

No he didn't. He made a cut and paste hodgepodge that looks nothing like the original. Bad rotoscoping and modernized color correction paired with glitchy low quality sourcing...to each his own.

To each his own. It's a lot better than the other option. They're not perfect, but to say "bad rotoscoping" and "modernized color correction" is a bit unfair. He actually based the color correction on surviving film prints and all three look pretty good.

You do know that colours fade, right?
The colours now aren't the same as when the prints were first struck.

Fair enough, but to dismiss it as modernized color correction is simply untrue. They're a lot more faithful to the originals than the official blu-ray set. They're also based on low-fade prints, so there's that.
