Thank you for the clarification.

Not overwhelmingly negative at the time, true. I think it was more excitement and joy, turning to confusion, then disappointment, then anger, then indifference. Your basic romantic relationship.

Oh, to lighten things up round these very very serious parts, Chewie's got the glam going on...

I remember leaving the theater for The Phantom Menace feeling like I had been kicked in the nuts. I was still excited for Attack Of The Clones because I felt like it couldn't be any worse...and I was wrong. Didn't have any expectations that Sith would be any good and I was correct.

Still not as bad as the feelings I had when leaving the theater after seeing A New Hope (bleh) Special Edition in 1997. Never bothered with Empire and Jedi in the theater after the desecration I had just witnessed.

Several years ago, if you knew where to find it, you could have the theatrical Phantom Menace on DVD.

The master was apparently taken from a HD cablecast and downconverted to DVD9 format, complete with 5.1 AC-3 audio.

At the time it was great seeing it with better color and without most of the edge enhancement.

I shared all those exact same angry, nut-kicked feelings for many years... but now I genuinely enjoy ALL the episodes: prequels, special editions... everything. Go figure. I honestly don't know if I succumbed to the Dark Side or the Light.

I remember thinking at the time, what a wasted opportunity. Instead of adding new cgi scenes, these could have been extended versions using only original deleted material, cleaned up and reinserted back into the films. I'd never want to see these new versions replace the theatrical cuts, but as an alternative way of experiencing the films, this would have been ideal for the 20th anniversary, imo.

I actually dislike The Phantom Menace less now. No way would I put it on par with the OT or TFA and R1, however. Clones and Sith were even worse the second time I saw them again. I remember buying a ton of the Phantom Menace merchandise in excitement before the film was released. Didn't do that again. I waited until I had seen The Force Awakens before getting sucked into the merchandise hole again. I still have a huge box in the attic of Phantom Menace crap.

Or you realized they're just movies, learned to enjoy them as such, and learned that any changes didn't affect your personal past/present/future?

All it took for me was that first "full" trailer for FORCE AWAKENS in March 2015. The moment I saw the image of the crashed Star Destroyer on Jakku, all my hatred for everything STAR WARS post-1983 evaporated. Literally... flipped like a light switch in my brain. I was in Vegas at the time on a gig, and when I drove home to L.A. I stopped by a Fry's Electronics and bought the two 3-disc Blu-ray sets of the prequel trilogy and "original" trilogy. Got home, poured a hefty amount of whiskey, cranked the home theater, and managed to enjoy the prequels and special editions for the first time in my life... and now I can even enjoy them without the alcohol!

By that logic we should enjoy every movie and shut down all constructive discussion and just circle jerk to Twilight Time or whatever.

They're not even in the vicinity of the ballpark of IMDb's Bottom 100 list.

Joy is the path to the dark side. Joy leads to confusion, confusion leads to disappointment, disappointment leads to anger, anger leads to indifference.

1. Scared of what? Words typed? I was making a point about C3PO's significance, actually I had fun thinking about it, even if in the end I am likely typing for just myself.

2. Vader was looking for Luke in one way or another. The Emperor likely made Vader privy to the plan.

3. To each his own, but not seeing Leia cocaine look added with her obvious weight loss that took away her curves. Though clearly not as bad as ROTJ, but her drug problem was apparent.

The first movie was pure Leia.

For me it was more like realizing I could pick the peperoni off an otherwise haflway decent pizza. Yeah, I wish it wasn't there to begin with and yeah I could still kinda taste it but whatayagonnado.

This is a true circle jerk. Once the Force Awakens and Rogue 1 are praised more than the prequels, all credibility is lost...or perhaps one should just respect a different opinion.

I can live with that.

Now where are personal attacking fact police when you need them?

You really are incoherent most of the time these days. What the heck are you talking about here?? There's nothing in my post (which you quoted) that isn't my own personal experience and opinion -- not even remotely presented as "fact". I didn't even mention ROGUE ONE, and I only mentioned how the single image of the crashed Star Destroyer from the first trailer for FORCE AWAKENS ignited a new "STAR WARS enjoyment" spark within me. I made no qualitative comparisons whatsoever between the prequels and the newer Disney films.

I honestly suggest you comment less; you don't have to weigh in on everything, you know... and most of the time you've missed the point of what's been stated anyhow.

So which is it - do people who praise TFA and R1 more than the prequels lose all credibility or should one respect different opinions.

You can't have 'em both.

You need to calm the F down. The post was tongue in cheek and was made with utmost respect.

In so many words, that whooshed right over your head, I was saying that just because I may not agree doesn't give me the right to personal attack or speak for others which I am constantly accused of.

Talk about a loose canon.

P.s. It is not easy to multi quote so I paraphrased, guess that was worth you attacking me without mercy.
