If I'm doing a Star Wars movie marathon with someone, which specific episodes/arcs of the computer animated series are the most essential for watching in between AOTC and ROTS?

Honestly just the last season ("The Lost Missions"). I can't remember any other arcs in the rest of the show that I'd call "essential."

Yeah, The Clone Wars on Netflix are 2.35. Were they cropped to 16:9 on Netflix in the past? I thought I remembered reading that but maybe I was confusing them with the Cartoon Network, which had cropped versions.

By far the best transfer in the set. It looks marvellous.

Did The Clone Wars have an abrupt end or did they wrap it up?

It was very abrupt unfortunately.

There were so many things that they didn't wrap up.

Things always come to an abrupt end when Bob Iger is involved.

Despite some stuff not wrapped up, the ending (both endings, actually) are still pretty satisfying.

The pre CGI cartoons are not canon. No real reason to watch them.
Whether or not something is canon doesn't change the fact that the original series is, hands-down, the best thing to come from the Prequel Trilogy.

There's a very real reason to watch them, and it's the fact that it's an absolutely fantastic series.

All the loose ends in Clone Wars were tied up in cannon comics, cannon novels, and Star Wars Rebels.

Yup. Disney under Iger has always had a pretty hard-and-fast, "65 episodes and done"-rule.

Or, y'know, when the owner of the company decides to sell up thus leaving the fate of such things in the hands of another.

Who cares if something is canon or not? If Disney released the UOT but still made sequels that refer to things from the special editions, that would basically mean the UOT isn’t canon but that’s not going to stop people from buying them and preferring them over the special editions.

There’s a new Halloween film coming out next year that’s a direct sequel to the original, but that doesn’t mean people shouldn’t watch the numerous sequels if they want to. Are the older sequels going to no longer be canon? “I don’t know and I don’t care.” - Harrison Ford

Even without the comics and novels, Rebels does a great job of tying up a lot of the loose ends.

George Lucas should of required the Clone Wars be finished to a proper ending as a requirement of the sale.

It would have been nice if the last scene of the Clone Wars was Anakin & Obi-Wan racing towards the opening battle of Revenge of the Sith.

Very abrupt, but the half-finished arc on the BD release is a nice one. It's not a conclusion by any means but it does kinda sorta have to do with Rogue One, even if it was an accident and never explicitly mentions anything about the Death Star. I don't think Netflix has it though.

That's the way it was in the Tartakovsky series.

What are some good Star Wars novels? I’m interested in reading a few of them.
