The prequel trilogy novelisations are quite good - very engrossing. Much better than the films they are based on.

All three are loaded with deleted scenes - filmed or otherwise - especially ATTACK OF THE CLONES.

The "Heir to the Empire" trilogy by Timothy Zahn. The characterizations are spot-on, the writing second-to-none (if only the filmmakers could have adapted this instead of making the prequels) and I could "hear" John Williams' score. I could not put them down (back in the day when they were first published, the wait between novels was nearly unbearable).

My favorites:

-Tales from the Mos Eisley Cantina
-Tales from Jabba’s Palace
-the Han Solo trilogy (Paradise Snare, Hutt Gambit, Rebel Dawn)
-the Thrawn trilogy (Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising, Last Command)

The Thrawn Trilogy

The X-Wing Novels (Think there's 9 of them if I remember correctly EDIT: There was a later 10th novel)

I like Brian Daley's Han Solo Adventures Trilogy

The Lando Calrissian Adventures Trilogy is fun as well.

-the han solo trilogy by ac crispin
-thrawn trilogy, scoundrels, thrawn, outbound flight- all written by Timothy zahn overall most of his books are enjoyable.
-Darth bane trilogy by drew karpyshyn
-jedi academy trilogy by kevin j anderson
-dark disciple by Christie Golden If you like clone wars then this ones great since its basically written for season 6 or season 7 arc before the show got cancelled. It shows how damaging this war was to the jedi's principles.

-Darth plagueis
-Dark lord rise of darth vader by james luceno is an interesting read of anakin transitioning to vader after his injurys.

dark nest by troy denning I cant really remember how I feel about this trilogy but I do remember enjoying at least parts of it. Its a mixed bag but I would give it at least a neutral rating because it has a interesting plot.

For a younger reader i would recommend legacy of the jedi by jude watson. Its really a enjoyable story which follows the previous generation of dooku his friend and a few other jedi but it does well in showing the corruption in the jedi order that leads to dooku's going to the dark side. Its reading level would be rather low for an adult but I have fond memories of reading it when I was younger.

The only books I really disliked are the ones from the new jedi order era on. The books from this timeline are just harder to get into and enjoy which is why even dark nest I cant whole heartily endorse.

Thrawn trilogy and the newest Thrawn book as well.
Battlefront: Twilight Company
Death Troopers
Catalyst

There's a lot that are really good, those just kind of jump out at first thought.

A good portion of what kind of story you would like though is based on what type of characters you enjoy.

If you like the sith then dark disciples, Darth bane, raven, fatle aliance, plaguis or other books that follow the sith will be enjoyable.

If you enjoy x wing fighter stories then theirs a whole series of x wing stories.

If you want a empire story with empire comanders fighting rebels then you have the thrawn stories including the thrawn trilogy, star wars lost stars and im sure their are others

If you want to see luke doing what he should have done in last jedi building his temple and dealing with padawans falling to the dark side etc then the jedi academy trilogy is basically perfect

A little off topic but it pertains to Star Wars, more specifically Return of the Jedi.

Back in 1983 a magazine ran a contest for Return of the Jedi. Basically you had to rearrange the given photos into the order they first appeared on screen.

I used to have this magazine but cannot remember what it was. Trying to add it to my collection.

The entire Clone Wars series is on Netflix.

Just watched Jedi and Revenge Of The Sith. Don't know why I chose those two, they just felt like one's to watch. Jedi has always been the least of my favorites- original trilogy, but has grown on me. Really enjoyed this viewing. Revenge of the Sith, for all the prequel's faults, was also good to watch again.

The packaging/digibook itself is really nice, I just worry the discs will end up getting scratched over time. I wish the two UK steels with the series would have included the bonus discs, those are must-haves for diehard SW fans.
Hopefully we'll get better packaging with all extras included sometime soon.

One last thing- if we do get all new release of this 6 films, aside from hoping for 4K releases, I hope we get the original trilogies without the added scenes/cgi that Lucas later adddd. Some of the adddd stuff in Jedi (jabba's palace band) was cringe worthy imho.

Your discs won't get scratched. There's no telling how many times I have taken those discs in and out and they are impeccable.

I recased all of them, I wasn't going to take the chance.

Unfortunately this means all my extra cases have been used, leaving me at the mercy of sleeve-peddlers and disc-stackers ( I'm looking at you, Disney ) going forward.

I guess I won't be messing or trading any of these. I was a bit worried after the Mummy 4K trilogy fiasco. I have the SW and the above mentioned two digibooks in addition to Hitchcock, X-men, Universal Monsters and Hammer anthologies, all on digibook. This saves me money and time.
