I don't know if you know, but Lucas if planning a re-release of all 6 movies in 3D at some point within the next 2 years. My bets are that one movie will be released each month in the lead-up to the Blu-ray set.

I think we'll have to wait a couple years for the original trilogy. I think that G. Lucas is only releasing them after they've been restored frame by frame (2k or 4k) these are his most precious babies & he won't let them out in the wild if it isn't made right! I don't think we will be seeing a release before 2014 or 2015.

I'm not sure if I would buy all six or just IV, V, and VI. In either case, I want all versions, unaltered originals and special editions.

I think at some point I will want the prequel trilogy. It all depends on price, packaging, and editions available.

I'd like to be able to buy the Unaltered Trilogy, but I think Lucas will not allow those to be available until enough copies of his latest definitive versions are sold.

And of course, please make persistant the color and luminosity of the light sabers. I think why the colors of the sabers in the '04 DVD set were inconsistant was because Lowy was in a rush and the DVD release itself was rushed. They didn't take the time to do everything right, when they should have. It shouldn't be too hard to re-roterscope the sabers in the OT.
I am with you.

I recently watched the Special Edition of the first film. It holds up pretty well. Myself I don't care, a LOT at least, about the SE changes. Or new changes Lucas might make in the future. Most are minor/background details.

But my preference would be the original films in their original form, remastered for HD. However I understand that this may never happen.

Actually, Return of the Jedi is a significant downgrade storywise from the first two. So I may just wait for individual releases for Star Wars and Empire.

Since it's not a choice, here's a vote for none of them. Whatever meagre nostalgia value remained of Star Wars and ESB has been erased by those lame sequels and Lucas' sorry meddling.

I think no matter what is put out not everyone will be happy. People are very passionate about Star Wars. I'll probably buy whatever gets released, it's sure to be referance level material. By the way, I think they did a great job on the dvd releases.

I'll get all eventually on BD. But I'll buy the original versions as long as they are atmospheric as soon as they come out to replace my non-atmospheric DVD copies.

I would like to have the unaltered original trilogy but will probably end up having to settle for the SE original trilogy. I will not buy the prequels on BD because I have absolutely no desire to see them again. Once was enough.

Btw., do you guys think the Box Set with all six movies will also be released on DVD, or will George Lucas only release it on Blu-ray??

A BD only release would be really cool. That would basicially confirm that DVD is dying!

Oh, Mr Lucas will certainley release it on DVD as well. More money. Also there still plenty of people out who buy DVDs and since this box set is very likely to contain completely new Bonus Features, then everyone will want to own this set.

Empire Strikes Back and A New Hope are pretty much tied for me.

I would give the slightest edge to Empire Strikes Back.

I personally couldn't care less about 3-D. It would be interesting to see SW like that, but I thin they'd have to fix all the visual flaws in the OT.
I'd love to see all 6 in the cinema again though!! That'd be awesome!! Although, on second thought, Blu-ray at home pretty much beats cinema already, so BDs will do fine!!!

Yeah, it's been rumored for years now, but nothing official, right?

I don't see it happen any time soon.

This is a joke, right? But if not...

It's ANAMORPHIC!!!!

And there's no such thing as anamorphic BD. The native resolution of BD is 1080p (same as True 1080p HD). The only neeed for anamorphic transfers on DVD were due to their 480i transfers for 720p or 1080p screens.
