Not saying this was official, but here's the news article:

Being as that particular "story" is from January of 2009, I'd say yea, it's not official. That said, I'm thinking (lol, Hoping, Praying... ) that "maybe" we'll get the Holy Trinity of Releases THIS YEAR...?!

STAR WARS - Complete Saga - Announced! - Sept. 2011
JURASSIC PARK Trilogy - Announced! - 2011 (No Specific month yet)
INDIANA JONES Original Trilogy - Late 2011

I agree with this, perhaps after the 3D version sets are released we will single movie releases.

But, Hell no, I am not waiting for this, I care more about seeing the movies then how the packaging looks in my collection.

I am hoping Lucas WILL have mucked with phantom menace - replacing that cross eyed animatronic Yoda monstrosity with a cg version... And if he wants to tone down jar jar so much the better...

Milking it doesn't just refer to financial benefits but can also be addressed to anticipation on any subject for a long time..for future greater financial gain.

Most releases are officially announced with full specs (I say most)..Lucas however is likely to release tidbits of information over a long period of time..instead of just telling us what will be included. You can agree/disagree on his re-visiting strategy but you can't deny the fact that the guys very good when it comes to marketing...

The more often we get to read about star wars, the higher our expectations (hype over time = better profits in future - see IJ IV) the more likely we are to buy other merchandise relating to star wars so we can get through the upcoming months (it's all down to psychology).

Look at the LOTR Trilogy..last year we got the TC cuts. But we still got some info regarding the extended editions. Now we hear that the EE may be released this year. So for 2010/2011 LOTR has been on a lot of peoples radars. 2012 + 2013 - Hobbit.. 2013/2014 - EE of Hobbit (look at their current edition release politics). 2014/2015 - Ultimate edition of all movies. 2010 - 2015 - 5 years of income from a franchise..if you need to make a 5 year budget at WB/MGM then this is very helpful.

And the same goes for star wars..this version is the beginning. A lot of regular small announcements..then Blu-ray release..3D and I wouldn't be to surprised if he didn't announce a new trilogy in 5 years time..

In short he's milking it...well at least that's the way I see it...

The Indy trilogy was planned for release alongside Crystal Skull according to Lucasfilm.

However Lucas & Spielburg felt that the films needed to be remastered once again for Blu-Ray.

Either Jeff Kleist or Bill Hunt confirmed this info at the time right here on Blu-Ray.Com.

To each his own, but I just don't care at all how my collection "looks" on a shelf or in a drawer. I just want the movies on BD.

But he looked pale, bald, scarred and with robotic limbs when he died.

I'm with you, brother. It is nice to have a uniform, neat collection, but it's also sort of pointless. If I get a box set, I usually 'display' it on top of my bookshelf; especially if it's something as monumental as Star Wars.

But yeah, I'll never hold off because of the way a Blu-ray/set is released. I even got my wife the atrociously HUGE Notebook giftset because it was the only version available.

"Ah well. Principles aside, no one should avoid The Clone Wars simply because it has a lossy track. It still boasts twice the bitrate of the standard DVD mix, outmaneuvers several other non-theatrical animated releases, and gets the job done. Could it sound better? Sure. Could it sound worse? Without a doubt. "
Bottom line, it delivers all of the classic star wars sound effects from the movies very well and I think they sound great!

Think I'm going to pass. Didn't like the DVD editions from the moment I put them on, and Lucas is more and more moving away from the films I enjoyed.

For Xmas someone should have sent him the Blade Runner 5 Disc pack so he can see how a scifi classic should be brought to high definition. I'm sure as usual he'll have surrounded himself by people who only know how to say 'Yes' and then ignore the critical reception. (Maybe someone at the authoring plant could sneak the Red Letter Media reviews of the PT on the disc set as an easter egg )

I agree with the two of you. It's kind of shocking to see the amount of people on here who pass on releases because the boxes don't aesthetically match their other titles. Sounds odd to me, but to each his own. Someone else mentioned in another thread that they were passing on an upcoming title (I wanna say it was Eternal Sunshine) if it didn't come with a slipcover.

I definitely have my personality quirks, but I'm thrilled that's not one of my hangups.

I never said to avoid buying it. If you like it then buy it. I honestly don't care for the show mainly because it is geared towards children.

Man I definitely don't think its geared toward children. I'm not into cartoons, but this series is good and provides a lot of content to the otherwise empty AOTC-ROTS gap.

I have seen the Clone Wars movie and several episodes of the TV show and it is definitely geared towards the 10-16 male audience. I actually barely made it through the Clone Wars movie because of the extra friendly dialogue used for children.
