Here's a nice series of Star Wars Blu-Ray covers that I use:

I must concur. Mark Hamill still had his original nose in the first movie; that's definitely his post-accident nose on your cover.

But they're still about a thousand times better than anything I could do! I tip my lightsaber to you.

For those of you interested in a music only option.

Quote:
Shawn Murphy and Leslie Ann Jones created a template that could be used for each Episode to add some consistency for both the stereo and 5.1 mixes.
This is from last year's remasters of the scores. Though it may not any proof of a music only option will be available on this. But the fact that they remastered 5.1 may be a good hint.

But if they do, let's just hope they put it on the disc and not make it a Digital exclusive.

For me the relevant parallel is that in both cases he's reacting to potential threats to others. Luke was tempted twice in Palpatine's throne room to abandon his 'I won't fight you, father' approach. The first time was when he learned the Death Star was operation and Palpatine knew about the mission to deactivate the shield generator on the moon. The second was when Vader learned Leia was his daughter.

Luke's concerns for his own immediate physical well-being never caused him to lose control. It was threats to others. And in the case of Vader turning Leia it was a threat that might never come to pass.

That seems very similar to his reaction to his visions of Future Ben.

Yeah, I can kind of see that but I really like that TLJ didn't let Luke off the hook. It would have been very easy to come up with a way to have Luke feel responsible for losing Ben without him having anything to really feel bad about.

I like that the tortured hero actually has a legitimate reason to beat himself up.

As for wanting to kill somebody but not drawing a weapon being different from wanting to kill somebody and drawing but not using a weapon...eh, I dunno. It's a little different but it doesn't seem that different. Not in any 'is this in his character' sense anyway.

I can get why it would have been easier to take though. Even in Luke's version of the story he seemed like he was standing over Ben for like twenty minutes.

Ah Star Wars, where it is up to the fans to make things good.

You want to watch the films where they don't look and sound like garbage? The fans have your back.

You want cover art that doesn't look like it was put together by crack addicted test chimps? The fans have your back.

Those look great. One thing I'm not sure about is that purple color in Episode 3. The orange color from the ESB cover might work better.

Yeah, I don't believe that photo was even from A New Hope, it could be a marketing photo or something, because it is clearly Mark Hamill after his accident with his face looking different from A New Hope.

So tonight I took 3 hours to examine THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, going back 'n' forth between the official 2011 Blu-rays and the Despecialized Edition to decide which cut I'd show my wife 'n' friends in the run-up to RISE OF SKYWALKER this November/December... and you know what? I discovered that on top of everything else wrong with the official 2011 Blu-rays (weird last-minute Lucas changes, magenta color grading, Lowry frozen grain)... on top of ALL THAT, the friggin' highlights aren't even within "legal" range. Crazy!

On my projector's waveform monitor, I'm seeing all the highlights topping out wayyy into the "whiter than white" zone, well over 100 IRE. Even double checked my player/projector combo by putting in the trusty Spears and Munsil disc, and it all checked out as perfectly calibrated. Cray-zee. I've now recorded into my database of color-grade changes that I need to lower my projector's contrast by 5 whenever I watch EMPIRE; will check JEDI next time I watch it, and I never ever ever watch the Special Edition of A NEW HOPE (opting instead for 4K77), so I don't give a damn about that.

Anyhoo... just thought if ANYone cared, it would be here.

And by the way: I'm actually gonna stick with Lucas' official 2011 version of EMPIRE, for all its abominations... just to avoid the weird compression issues and color fringing I'm seeing around the lightsabers in my DESPECIALIZED EDITIONS. Can't be distracted during those key moments, so I'll take all the other nonsense instead.

It takes me 2 hours 7 minutes to examine The Empire Strikes Back.

(Unlike many folks, I don't mind the current blu-ray special edition cut).

Ha... yeah, I went in with the idea that I was just going to watch the Despecialized Edition; actually watch it, no "examination" in mind... but little compression artifacts kept buggin' me, so I started watching large chunks of each (Despecialized then Official then Despecialized, etc.) to compare. Not so arduous, really, watching huge portions of one of my favorite flicks twice in one night. Really really loud. With a bit of whiskey to help the experiment. This wasn't exactly a clinical laboratory examination, lol.

I was surprised that for me the official release came out on top... at least as something I would show a group of friends and my wife, when we watch the whole Saga this fall in the run-up to RISE OF SKYWALKER. Granted, I do a lot of color grading in my projector to get the 2011 Blu-rays to look "correct" to my eyes... but once I do that adjustment, they're not terrible. Y'know... except for the horrendous frozen grain and the "alert my star destroyer to prepare for my arrival" nonsense. There's no color grading that can help THAT.

Anyway, he pulled no punches, so when actors would turn out in rehearsals in 3/4 or full back, he'd yell out, "Stop showing the audience your ass!"

I don't think he'd like these covers...not sure if Finn's stormtrooper ass is how I'd go with Force Awakens. Or the Falcon's ass with Solo. You've heard of full-front, these are all full-back. Some work. Some don't.

Is it just me or is that post by Hardback of his cover art murder on your device? It locks my computer up and I have to reboot both my phone and tablet because of it.

I’m not a fan of those covers either. They look like stills from a third-person video game.
