Announcement about the blu-rays should be made today or tomorrow. I wouldn't expect much other than new packaging, but you never know. But at least you'll probably be able to see Anakin kill Ben in 4K.

I LOVE the new cover arts, but if no new features I'm not sure I'll jump at getting them since I already have the Complete Saga box set, TFA, TLJ, Rogue One and Solo.

A theater near me is showing Episodes I - VI this weekend; original trilogy tomorrow and the prequels on Sunday.

I’m taking a half day to see Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi because those are the only two Star Wars movies that I haven’t seen in theaters (never made it in ‘97). I’m so excited!!

Well, I obtained a set of the Despecialized editions today, and watched Star Wars (ANH, though it didn't include that title in the crawl), it was awesome!

Good for you? You probably won’t need it for much longer. And at this point those aren’t even the best of the fan edits anymore.

This seems like an unnecessarily hostile response. They’re just saying they watched the despecialized editions and enjoyed them. Unless I’m missing something... gee whiz.

That's my guess too. Though it does seem a waste to just repackage stuff that's been released fairly recently.

I can't wait to see how Disney will ruin the great THX Certified 6.1 DTS-HD MA audio mixes of the movies if they decided to "upgrade" them...

It will be interesting to see what excuse is used this time (if DISNEY even feels the need for an explanation?) for not including the original edits in a 4K boxed set, if this is the case.

Kind of shocked nothing announced today. And with amazon supposedly pulling the pre-orders for the releases (which I don't see now, but then again, I never looked for them last week), it makes me wonder if anything is going to happen.

The optimist in me was thinking that they were saving the "huge" news for today at D3, but it looks like the only news they had regarding anything Star Wars was all from yesterday (Mandalorian series, Kenobi series, and EP IX).

I don't think that they think there needs to be an excuse. The only people wanting the original edits are few hundred nerds (of which we are two) on the internets. That's peanuts to Disney/Lucasfilm.

It wouldn't be the biggest home video release of all time, but I'm sure it would, at least, make enough of a positive splash to put a rerelease on the map in a way that you usually wouldn't get unless you were putting a popular movie out on a new home video medium.

Already have them on Blu....and dvd (twice)...and vhs (twice)....
