The only practical reason for me personally would be for the digital copies and then reselling the discs to make [some of] the money back.

BUT with The Rise of Skywalker coming out in theaters this year, there’s no doubt that a new box set (hopefully 4K and hopefully with digital copies) will be out in March / April, so I’d rather just wait.

Because I like everything about the entire Star Wars film-o-verse.

I must respectfully disagree. I would like to see/hear the Fox Logo and Fanfare added to the Sequel Trilogy openings! They could leave them off Rogue One and Solo, but the Main Saga Films should always begin with the Fox Fanfare leading into that glorious burst of the main title theme. For me, the whole experience is incomplete without that little musical appetizer.

I keep saying this; since Disney owns Fox now (still a great dream come true for me, 2 great companies coming together under one roof), why not give Fox the honors to distribute the final chapter in the Skywalker saga under Disney's behalf?

You can leave VII and VIII as is but under no circumstances remove the Fox logos and fanfares to the original 6 because to me, they've always been Fox films and I felt that studio was Star Wars' rightful home. That's why I want them kept in there because they are Fox movies and part of Fox's legacy.

Again, Disney owns Fox now so there should be no excuse or problem to keep them in there now. Even Disney would have to agree with that.

Where's the honour in distributing an under-performing no doubt nonsensical shitshow of a film that a significant percentage of franchise fans, myself included, aren't even going to bother seeing or buying?

This right here is what I hate about Star Wars “fans”.

I mean.. listen to yourself. You’ve already decided that you won’t like The Rise of Skywalker. It could turn out to be a fantastic movie, but you won’t like it on.. principle? I guess?

This is by far the worst fandom.

There are no bad fandoms, only bad fans.

Luckily, I'm not one of them.

Pretty great fandom, I think. If there's a thousand people in line to get tix to a Springsteen concert and a few in line keep yelling and grousing about how much they didn't like his last album, over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again...that's not the fandom. Those guys are nuts, looking for attention and validation.

Last Jedi was a truly awful movie. I hated hated hated hated hated it. There is nothing telling me to see the next movie. If they approved of this garbage they'll approve of any idiotic idea for the next movie. Everyone in the world could tell me to see Rise of Skywalker and I won't.

Rise of Skywalker should be interesting, since it's back to J.J making the film, supposedly with help from George Lucas applying story-points and themes.

I thought The Force Awakens was a fine setup film, and thought of it as kind of taking one step back to make a big leap forward. The Last Jedi kind of twisted the ankle and made the whole thing stumble awkwardly sideways instead (and for the record, I don't actually hate the film, and found it more of a mixed bag on various levels).

It seems like J.J has to work around Last Jedi making the closing chapter, and has his work cut out for him reconnecting some of his original intentions, making the film add closure to the entire Skywalker "saga", and just sort of justify the existence of all this in general.

Also Lando is in it. So, you know, I'm seeing it because Lando.

That’s pretty much how I feel too. There were some really nice things in TLJ but it’s a very awkward sequel to TFA. I bet J.J. was brought back to direct Ep. IX to “correct” the series. I know he was hired before TLJ came out but I bet Disney anticipated some of the backlash.

I could argue the worst fans are the fans who accept and make excuses for any old garbage rather than realizing what they love has turned sour and it's time to move on. For example "My Disney Star Wars Journey":

Force Awakens = OK, derivative but bits of it are good fun. Guess it's got potential to be improved upon. Bit like JJ's Star Trek and Mission Impossible films...
Rogue One = So so acts 1 and 2, pretty good act 3. Darth Vader may have kicked ass but had no reason to be there.
Last Jedi = Holy crap, one of the worst films I've ever paid to see. Couldn't even finish the borrowed blu-ray when I tried a second viewing.
Solo = OK I guess. But why Han? I mean who cares? It's not even a proper origin story, it's obviously part one of a trilogy of one.
Rebels = Not a patch on Clone Wars, lost interest and never finished.
Resistance = Not interested, not even enough to illegally stream it. Appears to have been prematurely cancelled anyway.
Forces of Destiny = "Hey, Kennedy, your agenda's showing!" (and thankfully not working)

Based on the above why would anyone be interested in episode 9? They've already had plenty of my time and money for precious little reward. Why give them another chance? I'll stick with episodes 1 thru 6, the Clone Wars TV series and for light relief the Robot Chicken Specials thank you.

I’ve only lived through the last two trilogies, and I’m far more emotionally invested in the Rey/Kylo dynamic going into IX then I was in Obi/Anakin going into III. I’m hyped to see it for them.

I’m ambivalent toward Lando. I never thought he was integral for the sequel trilogy and don’t want him to eat up too much screentime that could go to the new generation.

And I think YouTube and the click-bait media have created a false narrative over George’s involvement. It all stems from JJ saying he met with Lucas, Kasdan and Johnson before cracking the story for IX, but all that gets reported is the Lucas part.

Same here. Though to be fair, one of the reasons I wasn't that interested in where the Obi/Ani relationship went is I already knew where it was going

Surprisingly enough though, they actually pulled off some pretty good chemistry in Sith. I'm not going to get into my PT woulda coulda shoulda post mortem again but it really is a shame they couldn't have gotten to that point sooner.

But yeah, Rey and Kylo are both really interesting characters and I can't wait to see where they both end up.

I'm pretty on board with this one too. I've been around for all three trilogies and even the first time around I liked Lando well enough in Empire but thought he was kind of meh in Jedi. But again, to be fair, I thought most of Jedi was pretty meh so grain of salt and whatnot.

Three-for-three. I think Conventional Wisdom overstated the extent to which the makers of the ST brushed aside GL's outlines and is now overstating the extent to which they are relying on his input for the last entry.

The new films (and prequels) suck ass. STAR WARS has had its day (1977-83).

Just give us the OUT in 4K, fully restored.
