Pick your poison. Not a fan of it either but this is the closest middle ground Lucas has officially given us since the SE changes began.

Also that new rubbish Kyratt Dragon scream is still and sucks. The R2D2 holographic rock thing looks like 480p garbage.

Anyhow most things look great, imo, and the lower quality SE material looks worse now more than ever whereas the good high quality ones look great.

Question

Are these updated versions UHD only? Are the HD also updated, or are they the BD versions? I have no UHD / 4K capability, and just want to know what my choices are for my pre-Episode IX marathon.

I just don't understand how the abomination known as Jedi Rocks can still be there in ROTJ. We're a diverse group of fans, right? As a group, some of us love stuff the others hate, and some of us hate stuff the others love. Is there anyone... I mean anyone... who actively "likes" the Jedi Rocks sequence??

There are no screenshots of the Bespin Lightsabers yet, just this one....

Someone on another forum said that TESB looks just like the scenes in the Reliance Media Demo Reel from 2014. And the Lightsabers looked fantastic there! Here is the Demo Reel:

The 1080p versions on Disney+ are the new transfers.

Eh, I don't mind it THAT much. I think the original sequence was better, but the updated version doesn't bother me the way it does some people.

The song with lyrics at the beginning is the most abhorrent change to me. Greedo/Han being a close second.

Right now i'm hoping for something like this...

When Disney/Lucasfilm announce the "The Complete Skywalker Saga" on Blu-ray/4K it will say:

"Now for the first time ever the original theatrical versions of the classic movies fully remastered and restored in in glorious 4K and HDR exclusive to this collection!"

And then later after the release they will put the original versions on Disney+ too.

One can dream right?

But for rightnow i'm very happy to see the films looking way more filmic and pretty close to the 1997 SE theater presentation. Those were graded to match the personal IB Tech prints of Lucas back then. I think this filmic look also really helps the CGI inserts.

Jedi Rocks is not only a crime against cinema but against humanity. The UOT is the only thing Disney+ had to entice me to sign up so I won't be.

The Death Star static still gone?
The left and right audio still fixed from beimg swapped?

RotJ Lighstabers?
RotJ Palpatine "slugs?"

What other errors and mess ups were there over the years?

Oh, Empire... The rounded corners during the Wampa scene?
