But how graphic is the shot of the planet? It's an abstraction which is why it can be featured as it is, same for shooting a literally faceless storm trooper, but when it comes to gunning down recognisably hooman beans Lucas baulked at the notion just a few years later and finally got to change it in the 1997 SE.

You're not getting this, are you? The baddies doing bad things is TO SHOW THAT THEY'RE BADDIES, but the good guys taking down all and sundry was something that niggled at Lucas for years afterwards. He can't change it to them not shooting anyone otherwise we no longer have a movie (you have to love how consciences work sometimes ), but Han killing Greedo in what Lucas perceived to be cold blood (hence the added qualifier of Greedo shooting first to give Han a reason to kill him) and those full-on blaster hits by Luke and Han on recognisably human characters didn't fit with his more family-friendly outlook on things once he'd had kids. That way of thinking continued into the prequels too, look at how Lucas has Anakin slice and dice the Tuskens and Geonosians in AOTC, there's some hardcore dismemberment going on but it's A-OK because they're just non-human characters.

People can like or dislike, agree or disagree, but I see his point and I think it's a perfectly fair argument.

I mean I get it... but Han’s shot was not in retaliation to Greedo’s. The whole thing is a clumsy mess and he should have just done it right the first time way back in ‘77.

The way it is now just makes it look like Greedo is completely incompetent and it doesn’t even seem like Han is firing in retaliation- just that they both happened to shoot at the same time.

Yes but I'm talking about the censored blaster hits elsewhere as well, I don't think I ever quoted the relevant piece from Skywalking in here but just a few years later he was on record in that book as saying he was very uncomfortable with the violence (FROM THE GOOD GUYS, for any hard of understanding Scotsmen out there) in the original film.

but that's the point of the newly added dialogue, if greedo's saying "this is it for you!" or whatever then it gives Han more of a reason to get a shot off.

My LGTV has the option to stream these in HDR10. Does that imply 4K resolution or does it have to do with the frame rate? My PS4 ostensibly streams in 4K but the color and detail for whatever reason doesn't seem to match that of streaming straight from the TV app.

I'm having the same problem. My PS4 Pro is playing HDR just fine with Netflix, but the HDR isn't playing on Disney+.

Well, dare I say that a bit of imagination might need to be involved - shocking I know, having to actually think about things instead of just writing them off in a knee-jerk response - but I think it's more that it's such a quick insert between him saying it and the fireworks happening that there's no time for people to actually read a subtitle, were it present.

Because Adywan's Revisited versions don't have any of the more controversial changes made to the official versions, like Greedo shooting first, Hayden Christensen's Force ghost, Vader shouting "nooooo," etc, they automatically make them my preferred versions.

And to fill the glass even more, didn't Lucas add the bloody shot of the cantina thug's severed arm so the film would get a PG rating?? I find it kinda interesting that shot hasn't been tinkered with yet.
