The overall look is this weird desaturated and dull thing. I find that the colours vary a lot - in the original film, the Millennium Falcon scene with Luke training looks good, but then the Death Star interior stuff looks bad. The colours aren't theatrically accurate from what I can tell, although they're usually much closer than the old HD versions. You could argue that a Special Edition doesn't need to be theatrically accurate as long as it looks good, but the new look isn't very appealing.

I've heard that Disney+ is inconsistent, so I've tried playing it back on multiple displays/devices, but the look remains consistent (and other films on Disney+ look good) so it's likely something inherent to the master.
They forgot to include the colors.

I’m surprised Lucas never inserted the Darth Vader theme music in Ep. IV. Seems like the type of retconny thing he’d do.

Didn't Lucas and Williams have a discussion about exactly that, but ultimately decided against it?

I'd heard rumors a long time ago about that stuff, around the time Revenge of the Sith was still coming out. He was also supposedly going to shoot some footage with Jimmy Smits, so you'd also get some scenes with Bail Organa on Alderaan before it gets blown up. I don't know if any of it was true or not, though.

I remember reading something about that as well, but as you said it never saw the light of day past the rumor stage.

Smits was joking. He said he'd have Bail running around going "The Death Star, the Death Star!" and blowing up.

After recently rewatching Revenge of the Sith, I think I like Attack of the clones more. Sith has a lot of cool Star Warsy things in it, but it’s mostly a depressing movie and I don’t really buy Anakin’s turn. At least, not how the dialogue depicts it. Seems extremely forced. Clones has an interesting detective plot that keeps me engaged and I like the whole battle area sequence with all the Jedi fighting. If I judge the prequels based only on story and entertainment value and forget about the overuse of CGI and cheesy dialogue, I like Clones the best.

I also watched Solo last night for the second time and I find that movie the worst out of all the movies. The plot is just so uninteresting and I don’t like what they did with Han Solo’s character. He shouldn’t have some girlfriend he cares deeply about. He should be a womanizing scallywag who doesn’t fall in love with anyone until he meets Leia. Ruins his arc in my opinion.

That’s the only STAR WARS movie I deliberately avoided seeing when released. I didn’t like the lead actor or the rest of the cast. I knew the film was going to be sh*t.

I try to view it as its own entity set in a alternate universe that is in no way related to the events or the Han from the OT and TFA. Otherwise the story and characterisation does not work.

One can also make the argument that the events is this movie make him reject love and turn into a womanizing scallywag until a new hope starts to restore his faith in the world.

To be clear, I thought the movie was all over the place and shoehorning in Darth Maul at the end made absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Yeah, I thought about that too, but I think that’s just a bad backstory for him. When I watch Ep. IV I don’t want to think the reason that he’s a jerk is because he’s sad he no longer has his old girlfriend. He should just be a jerk because that’s how he’s been for the majority of his life. His backstory just diminishes his character and the movie is completely unnecessary and adds nothing at all to the Star Wars lore. It seems more like a bad comic book movie, like Guardians of the Galaxy (which I think is the worst MCU movie). That Rio alien character reminded me of Rocket with the type of humor that tries too hard to be funny and is mostly annoying. And there were too many little Easter eggs that ruin the simplicity of Han’s character.

Like a girl never made you bitter? And then another came along and helped make you back to how you were?
Not you specifically, but in general.

Sorry if this has been done to death, but regarding Maul in Solo (a film I did enjoy) is he the only reference to a force user in that film? Cause that’s what confused me. Han doesn’t believe in that mumbo jumbo when we first meet him (truly first meet him in the original) and it’s through his new friends that he learns it’s all real. So that’s what threw me off with Maul...was he brought back in to never be seen by Han? Or just never to use his abilities around him? Or if sequels did happen, was it just a one and done like “hey kids memba him?? K, bye!”

I don't agree with this-- he's not the way he is because of not having his girlfriend. By the end of the film, he goes from being a bit naive to getting disillusioned by both her and Tobias Beckett, where he learns that everyone is selfish and out for themselves, and if you don't do the same, you're a sucker. I thought they balanced that aspect with his inner natural inclination to do the right thing pretty well. I especially loved his last moment with Beckett, which seemed to me a not-so-subtle jab at Lucas and his revision of the Greedo scene.

I really dug SOLO too, but that Maul bit was a huge misstep -- even if there was going to be a sequel. I skip it every time I watch, like the Vader's castle scene in ROGUE ONE. As soon as Qi'ra closes the blinds over the windows, CHAPTER STOP over the Maul bit. Then it's even more powerful, in my opinion. Qi'ra knows that she's now the head honcho in Crimson Dawn, and she actually CHOOSES that over Han. It works great.

This may just be me, but I've thought about elling my BD set since they're on D+ in 4K, is anyone else?

Nope. Viva la physical media. They can have my shiny discs when they pry them from my cold dead hands.

I don't have the BD set because of the changes but if you only watch A New Hope on Disney+ you will be "maclunkied" and probably regret selling your set.
