Or he’ll shoot and his shot ricochets off the wall and kills him. Han never fires at all.

At first Han does, then it’s Greedo, then Greedo still throws first but there’s less time before Han throws back, then they throw at the same time.

So now that the next new Star Wars movie won't be out for a few years, what are the odds of a theatrical rerelease of the original trilogy?

If Disney decide to release them, they'll make us pay.

Think of it this way - the complete saga with 27 discs (UHD, Blu-ray, bonus content) is going for £150. I've no doubt that even compared to the standard Blu-ray edition, they'll find ways to include content/features in the UHD edition that can't be acquired elsewhere.

For a theatrical release, I imagine it would first be a UHD+Blu-ray bundle, in order to gain a higher profit margin. Second, more exclusive bonus content that can't be purchased in the other editions. Third, it would be extremely limited, which would create demand for a re-release in the future.

They know that the kinds of people who want the theatrical aren't going to be satisfied with a Disney+ release; they want the best possible A/V quality. What's more, they will market it squarely at collectors for the simple reason that they don't want to confuse a general audience who doesn't care about the theatrical.

Just my thoughts anyway.

Are you talking about re-releasing the original movies in theaters, or re-releasing the original theatrical versions of the original trilogy on home video?

For re-releasing any of the old movies in actual theaters, I'd say the chances are slim to none. Lucasfilm originally planned this with releasing 3D versions of each movie theatrically, but stopped after Episode 1 did so poorly. The consensus is that re-releasing old movies in theaters is no longer viable. Home video has gotten so good that most people aren't going to come out to see an old movie they already have on DVD/Blu-ray/UHD streaming, etc. The best one can hope for is a limited engagement Fathom event.

As for re-releasing the original theatrical versions of the original trilogy on home video, miniroll32 has addressed this a bit. I will say that I think the best bet would be if they were "bonuses" in a release of the now "canon" altered versions George Lucas prefers. This Skywalker Saga set would've been a prime contender, in my view, but maybe Disney may release individual "Trilogy" sets like Fox did on Blu-ray. Making a "Limited Edition" original trilogy set with the original theatrical versions available as a bonus could net them some sales.

Are the Blu-Ray + DVD Combo packs that were released back in 2013 of both the Original & Prequel Trilogies out of print now?

I'm pretty sure they are, as those were Fox releases, and Disney recently put out its own single-movie Blu-ray releases, which have the exact same Blu-ray disc in them for each movie, as well as a separate DVD release.

The Complete Saga sets are still available I believe. I saw one or two at Best Buy a few months ago as well as the Disney repackages but yeah I think the two trilogy sets are OOP.

The question I have - do we have any hints or rumors about Mando coming to blu? I couldn't give two shits about the new movies, but I'd love getting Space Wolf and Cub straight away!

No word as of yet. Typically, a Fall show ending in January or February would hit disc around August. So, if there is a BD and/or UHD release we would see an announcement during the spring. I am hoping for a UHD, but I'd settle for a BD set.

I already own the Original Trilogy on Blu-Ray. It is the Combo Pack that Fox released back in 2013, I was thinking about buying the Prequel Trilogy counterpart because I don't own those movies on Blu-Ray, and it would match my Original Trilogy set perfectly.

I don't care much for the Prequel Trilogy but I don't mind watching them occasionally and I wouldn't mind owning them for competition sake.

But I gotta be honest, those individual editions that Disney released back in September are a overpriced, $30.00 for each movie is a rip off. Especially since they are the exact same discs that Fox released back in 2011. I paid only $30.00 for my Original Trilogy Combo Pack back when I bought it in 2014.

I've heard that the presentations of both the Original & Prequel Trilogies on Disney+ are superior to the 2011 Blu-Rays. I wonder if they will create new Blu-Rays sourced from those newer masters.
They are, but Disney is trying to cash in with the included digital copies, which have never been available until that point with the BDs.

They come from new scans struck in 2014 with an HDR pass. I would think the upcoming UHD sets would use these for both the UHD and BD in each release.
