No, it's been confirmed the latest 2004 dvd release will be the source of the HD transfers for the 2011 blurays. It is also CONFIRMED the original theatrical versions WILL NOT be included in this release, and there is ZERO indication that they will ever be released.

This is direct from George Lucas mouth at Celebration V so anyone on this board who tells you otherwise is one hell of a wishful thinker. The originals are NOT being included. Get over it. Sorry.

I never said I wanted the originals, fine by me if they're not included. I have been waiting for these for 3 years so I'll take them in whatever cut George wants to give them to me in.

I wonder what new changes we're going to see to this beloved trilogy with the BD release. Qui-Gon's ghost forcefully inserted into ROTJ's ending? Hayden's face copied and pasted over Sebastian's when the helmet comes off (they can CG the wrinkles and whatnot)? Taking out some of the lines that don't make sense ("You will go to the Dagobah system and learn from Yoda, the Jedi Master that instructed me...")? More dinosaurs (and maybe some that can sing pop songs)? What do you guys think?

I never really minded the Obi-Wan "the Jedi master who instructed me" much as the prequels show Yoda has his hand in with most padawans and younglings training, whose to say Obi wasn't taught by Yoda as well?

Although the OT does make Obi-Wan seem slightly senile, he doesn't remember comforting 3PO at the end of RotS or R2 at all?

Sorry i should rephrase:

The 2004 special editions will be what we see and get on the bluray in terms of content. Where the Masters are coming from i do not know. In case anyone does not believe me goto youtube and search up Celebration V George Lucas bluray announcement. I can't look it up as i'm at work. He has confirmed they originals will not be included...

Qui-Gon showing up at the end of ROTJ would make absolutely no sense story-wise since Luke would not know who he is.

Why doesn't that line make sense? What should Obi-Wan have said instead? "Luke, you will go to the Dagobah system. There you will learn from Yoda, the Jedi master who instructed me. Well, he was the first one who instructed me, then later I was instructed by Qui-Gon. You don't know Qui-Gon and you'll never meet him, but I just want to make sure you know every detail of my entire training while you lie there freezing to death."

Sorry. I always thought that Ben implied that he learned his skills from Yoda.

That's what it was supposed to be before Qui-Gon, but I guess the line still works in a way.

That line would fit with Lucas' attitudes towards making her series science fiction comedic operas.

I just see it as Obi-Wan not wanting to get into a long and unnecessary discussion about the Jedi who gave him his more complete training for so long.

He learned most of his skills from Qui-Gon, but as the scene in AOTC showed, Yoda was still teaching the Padawans in the Temple.

As noted, no point in bringing up Qui-Gon to Luke while he freezes.

Hell, he didn't imply it, he said it clear as day lol! He said Luke needed to go see Yoda, "the Jedi Master who trained me."

Another silly inconsistency.

I think he means that only Qui-Gon taught Obi-Wan and he assumes that Yoda never did. All Padawans start early with full classrooms instructed by Yoda before going onto the 1 on 1 with a Jedi Knight. This is seen in Episode II. So what is said in Ep5 is absolutely 100% correct and does not need to be changed.

Yup, just always thought that the "instructions" from Yoda to Ben went deeper than that though. Like, "Luke, go learn Yoda, the one who taught me everything I know..." To take this from his line is fair, since at the time Qui-Gon didn't exist and we had no reason to assume Ben had multiple teachers.

Yeah, that's a good way to look at it.

I think, "Go learn from Yoda, the last of the Jedi Masters," would be a better line. Of course that would call for more editions of SW.

If that's the case, then Yoda is the Jedi Master who trained Anakin. Funny how I bet everyone who's ever seen the movie thinks its Gui-Gon.

I would think most people who've seen the movies realize Anakin had more than one teacher and wouldn't get their panties too terribly bundled if he were to refer to either Qui-Gon or Obi-Wan as 'the Jedi master who taught me'.

(Actually most people, even most people who've seen the movies would look at this conversation and think 'so how's that whole virginity thing working out, fellas' but that's neither here nor there)

Indeed. Luke wasn't exactly the sharpest virbroblade in the drawer. Best to dumb things down for him.
