The Complete Saga is my goal, the trilogies would be backups if I can't get the Complete Saga since they seem to have more of them available on eBay. I wasn't aware they missed some of the bonuses.

My local library actually has the Complete Saga collection (that was how I actually rewatched the films for Force Awakens), but the problem is library discs have been getting scratched and fingerprints on them quicker and to a greater extent since people moved away from physical media and to streaming so I want my own copy as a HD backup to avoid any issue like that. But I am sure the bonus discs got used less than the films so worse comes to worse I guess I could make do with the individual trilogies. That said I am hoping I can win an auction with the Complete Saga today, going over the pictures and comparing them to pictures of the real set to make sure I got the true thing.

If the Complete Saga you’re trying to get has Vader on the cover, make sure the top of his helmet is slightly cut off. The bootleg version has a small amount of space above his helmet.

The one I am bidding for right now, and will hopefully get, is the 2011 version with Anakin on Tatooine. I'd post a link but my account is too new for that.

Kind of a weird question, but as far as disc-based releases go (DVD/Blu-Ray/4K/etc.), these are the ones with notable differences compared to the theatrical versions, right?

Original Trilogy
Original Theatrical Releases
1997 Special Editions
2004/2006 DVD Edition
2011 Blu-Ray
2019 4K

The Phantom Menace
Original Theatrical Release
2001 DVD
2011 Blu-Ray
2019 4K

Attack of the Clones
Original Theatrical Release
2002 DVD
2011 Blu-Ray
2019 4K

Revenge of the Sith
Original Theatrical Version / Original DVD (I know the DVD added a couple of transitions at the end, but I'm not really concerned about the difference between those)
2011 Blu-Ray
2019 4K

The AOTC/ROTS 4Ks should be the same as the Blu-rays. Also, here's this: https://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Li...page/1#1475289

Each home video debut had changes, so yes.

According to this:
https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Lis...rs_re-releases

There were some changes to the 20th Century Fox and Lucasfilm logos at the beginning of the film for the 2019 releases of the films, so that's a slight difference between the 2011 Blu-rays and 2019 UHD Blu-rays for the prequels. But nothing within the films themselves.

I thought the colour timing changed on the prequel trilogy.

A lot of the TV and home media pre-SE had changes vs. the theatrical too.
Until the THX versions they all made the Jawa canyon in SW wayyy too bright instead of deep twilight and they all seemed to alter the whole "close the blast doors, open the blast doors sequence) in SW. None of them show the original ending sequence to the 70mm version of ESB. I think a few other things too. And yeah even the original theatrical were not all the same with SW 70mm and 35mm stereo and 35mm mono all being different in this way and that with altered, redone audio changes between all, at the very least. And then the SW re-release (pre-1980) of course changed the whole title sequence compared to the original theatrical releases. And 70mm ESB and 35mm having some different footage.

apparently the international VHS and DVD did not alter a few the scenes the way the US versions did compared to the theatrical digital (but probably already altered colors and did a few digital noise fixes and such)

and the theatrical 35mm and digital had a few differences (different take for close up on hands for wedding scene, seemingly some color and grading changes, a few audio changes, apparently 70 minor changes in all beyond just color)

For sure with TPM. I'm not sure they did for the under question AOTC/ROTS for blu-ray vs. UHD though. I'd have to check.

I am well aware that this is possibly the last place I should post this, considering all the haters, but I don't care, so here goes:

My current gf had never seen any SW film, nor had she any interest in doing so.
She really likes sci-fi, but doesn't care for fantasy. She is a Buddhist, so I thought she could like it, and she knew I was a huge fan, so after 6+ months, she expressed a desire to check them out.
Naturally, I started with Episode I: TPM, as she doesn't like "old films", and nearly 24 years is already very old for her. I know.
Anyway, I turned up the sound, and we watched it on my 65inch OLED. She laughed a couple of times at various funny points in the film, and was audibly shocked to see Qui Gon killed. When it was over she said that she hadn't expected to like it, but that she actually enjoyed it, and gave it a 9!!!/10, saying that it was DAMN impressive how it looked, all the imagination and incredibly good VFX, and I explained that the BD is actually pretty bad, since it's DNR'd rather severely, yet she was still very impressed by the characters, the story, and the visuals. Can't wait to watch the next ones with her.
She is a 45 year old Chinese btw.. I honestly didn't expect her to like it that much, but she even said she understood why I was such a fan.
You never know, eh?
I hadn't seen them for a while either, as I had already seen it at least 50 times, but watching it again just strengthened my awesome opinion of it. Every word, moment, look, etc. has such meaning, and is there for a reason. Even seemingly silly things, such as the monsters chasing the Jedi and Jar Jar in the planet's core shows how calm the Jedi are, how they trust the force, and keep their cool, which is later echoed by Anakin during the podrace, etc. He just fixes what's wrong, doesn't lose his head or freak out. The political intrigue is also amazing. Such a great entry. I miss George Lucas....sooo much.
Anyway, go ahead and bash now.

I actually enjoy TPM. Clones was always my least favorite until the sequels came out, but the cartoon does improve on it.

I fail to see why people are praising those 4K discs of the OT when this is basically a Terminator 2 4K situation, where a master prepared for 3D found it's way to a UHD Disc.
Is it more detailed? Yes but scrubbed within an inch of it's life and instead of T24K's teal filter, this one got a yellow one muting every color it touches.
For all it's flaws, the 2011 Blu at least has some grain to it's credit, if anything, the UHD discs made me reevaluate the 2011 blus as a necessary evil to hold on to until George Lucas croaks and we finally get the real deal.

No, it's not as bad as the T2 DNR, but yes they have had some applied. However, unlike T2 which has a blanket coating of DNR, the OT seems to vary from scene to scene.

The only good thing the 4K of Star Wars has going for it is that Lucas finally got Luke's lightsaber somewhat blue when he is training on the Falcon after the 594th time of releasing it. But I still watch my Despecialized versions I have burned to disc.

Of course not, but as long as Lucas and/or Kennedy is still living I doubt these will get the proper treatment.

The 2011 Blus are a disgrace on virtually every level IMO. If the UHDs are too muted the old Blus are too pumped, with colour and contrast cranked to ridiculous levels, and they were Lowry processed just like the UHDs were Lowry processed, which leaves behind a curtain of smeary, gloopy 'grain' that reacts only when things pass through it. Said 'grain' looks worse to me on the old Blus than it does on the UHDs, though I have to admit that most of Empire's UHD looks terrible while Jedi fluctuates. The only reevaluation I did of the 2011 discs was to hope that I never have to watch them ever again, they're just too flawed.

But the first Star Wars on UHD? It's amazing. Degrained heavily? Oh yes. But it's so clean and sharp it's astonishing, with just a hint of texture left behind to offset all that sharpness. To lump it in with T2 "becuz DNR" is laughable, because it smashes the horrid T2 4K into the middle of next week. Not that T2 hasn't had similar processes applied but they're like the dime store version compared to Star Wars' 4K treatment.

Holy crickey! Have you guys and gals seen these original Nick Gillard fight sequences for ROTS? They are absolutely insanely good!
I am actually a little mad at George Lucas for not using these now:

Yeah, I saw that a few weeks ago. I would have definitely liked it, but I still thoroughly enjoy what we ultimately received.
